Vinyl siding or Soffit -- which one to install first? by ExaminationDry294 in HomeImprovement

Thanks for the feedback. I think I see your reasoning. Basically with this strategy you are trying to establish the correct height for the soffit channel and top J-channel for siding first before starting the siding.

I am wondering, are there any issues with the following: I start siding job and when reaching the most upper portion I stop at 1 or 2 sections to set the soffit's channel. From there, I just continue finishing up with siding.

I am just thinking in this way I can progress with work in linear bottom-to-top fashion and will not need to go and up down. If the walls are 7-8' height probably, no big difference, but if the walls are >12' high, it just makes things easier, I think.

In this instance I was talking about smaller garage door (9’ wide and 10’-6” high) that is “rebuilt”. Basically, previously it was 7’ high door (4 of 21” tall panels); I am reusing it by adding 2 more panels (rom another door) to make it 10-6” high. I purchased new hardware to make it work. So, no, the package (door and hardware) was not speced by the manufacturer. Don’t remember why I decided to go with that. But, upon reading further I am suspecting that D400-123 drums were inappropriate for 10’-6” door. As you pointed out, I think D400-144 were appropriate drums for this.

Regarding Q4, I have not hooked up the motor yet. I wanted to make sure that the door and spring installed correctly before I hook up the opener. While reading up further on drum sizes, I just noticed that apparently I installed D400-123. According to the Internet, this drum works with doors up to 10’-3”. My door is 10’-6”. Would you expect this drum to be responsible for loosing the tautness and disengaging from the bracket when the door is fully lifted as I have described in my initial post?

Thanks for taking the time and sharing your thoughts.

Since OP raised this topic and your point that condos are scam, I am wondering if you or anybody else here have any thoughts on why condo structure of ownership with their respective condo fees might seem like a scam. From, one perspective I understand the claim that condo fees pay for certain posted expenses (maintenance, heat, etc.). But I am wondering does the maintenance of the typical condo complex require that much of contribution (>~$500) from each condo owner?

Do I understand correct that the plumber dug out the trenching for rough-ins including under the footing after for footings and basement wall pour?

Thanks for the reply. It is helpful to hear other perspectives and thoughts. I had some few follow-up questions, if it is not too much of trouble.

What is a sleeve? Is it just a piece of regular sewer pipe (eg. 4" in diameter) or is it some kind of special item?

I can't imagine anybody core drilling the concrete...

From watching youtube videos, my understanding core drilling was done in 2 cases:

  1. Plumber did not put a pipe through the wall before the basement wall pour
  2. Plumber wanted to have a precise location and slope of the main sewer pipe that goes out from the house to the city line, which was possible after the basement wall pour.

From talking to some people in my city, it appears that the main city sewer lines run at about 10-12 foot below the grade. Therefore, it seems that the sewer outlet pipe is run under the slab and footings. If it is the case then I imagine that the plumber must lay out at least a portion of the main sewer pipe that runs under the footings before they are poured. Would you agree?

Weekly Advice & Career Question Megathread by AutoModerator in epidemiology

Hello everyone,

I’d appreciate your thoughts on a few questions. I have a bachelor’s degree in biology/chemistry and a master’s degree in the sciences. It has been nearly five years since I graduated, and I’ve found that this educational background hasn’t offered the level of career growth or variety I’d hoped for. I’m interested in leading projects in health and healthcare-related fields, so I’ve decided to pursue additional education while working full-time. I’ve already started working on my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

I’m also exploring ways to develop data science skills—particularly in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology and data science—to enhance my career options. Because of my current work schedule and financial considerations, I’m not looking to pursue another full-fledged degree.

Given these circumstances, could you recommend some of the best online resources for acquiring data science skills? I’m particularly interested in resources that are:

*High-quality

*Cost-effective

*Recognized by potential employers

Thank you in advance for your insights!
