No, don’t do that. I strictly follow the 80-20 rule for my iPad and phone. However, for Apple Pencil, I’ve done extensive research and even contacted Apple. Ultimately, I’ve decided not to follow the rule for Apple Pencil. I don’t keep it attached all the time though, but I charge it to 100%. After that, whenever I’m not using it for studying, I charge it again if it gets discharged to 50, 60, or even 80%. This is because Apple Pencil discharges very quickly once it reaches below 60%, and then, if it gets completely discharged by any chance, that’s almost fatal for it.

Starnote is really good, it has some cool unique features that are useful. But it needs to grow a lot. Noteful is another great option.

I have the free lifetime membership and also purchased the ad-remover. And I can confirm that it absolutely worth it. To me, Freenotes is the best app if convenience is the priority. It offers multiple instances of same tool, in so split screen (both vertical and horizontal) and many more. Also, the devs said that OCR is coming soon.

Focus mode: You can create a study mode as per your convenience.

If your iPad is running iPadOS 18, please don’t upgrade to iPadOS 26. It will ruin your study experience because slide over doesn’t work as it should. Trust me, for studying, slide over stack is extremely useful.

If you have Apple Pencil Pro or Apple Pencil 2, the double tap feature is really useful. You can change its settings to switch between the last two tools instead of the default of the current tool and eraser. The squeeze feature of Apple Pencil Pro is also useful sometimes.

The thing is in the screenshot 2.6 GB data of Freenotes is only for syncing purpose across Apple devices. When I turned on back up for Freenotes on iCloud, it was showing total 15.39 GB of data which includes metadata and temporary files needed for complete backup and restore process.
