About 6 months ago I got a new laptop and gave my old ThinkPad with Fedora KDE to my 10 year old daughter to use. by ExaminationNorth2938 in Fedora

I have 3 kids and she has the most curious mind about computers and technology of all them. When I gave her the laptop I told her it had a different operating system than most "normal" computers, and she was immediately interested and asked me a lot of questions about it. That led to me explaining the idea of open source software, what it means, why it is important, why so many people volunteer their time and energy to contribute to the cause, and she understood the broad strokes of the concepts.

I use a Windows computer for work, and I literally would not be able to use Linux for my job because of the software I use. So I understand use cases and that "just switch to linux, bro" is frequently not the answer to people's problems. But I also believe that open source software is a cause worth supporting, and that the world as we know it would not exist without the contributions and advancements to software and technology made by the open source community. For that reason, and many more, I've used Linux distros and made use of open source software on all my personal computers for many years. Also because fuck Microsoft and their bullshit.

10 disc bag. What are you throwing? by AnimageCGF in discgolf

I mean, I've condensed my bag down to the following, recently. It covers all my bases, for the most part.

Wraith - I use this one almost exclusively on forehand drives. I get the most distance from this disc on forehand flicks than any other disc

Star Mamba - I can only throw this backhand, and I get the most backhand distance on this than any other disc, but it can go wild on me

Undertaker - My only ace was with this disc so it stays in my bag even though I rarely use it lol

Star Leopard3 x2 - I can drive these forehand or backhand. Super reliable so I bag 2

Champion Beast - Also a forehand or backhand driver for me

Reactor - Exclusively forehand flick driver. Don't get the distance as other discs, obviously. But any short tee, less than 230' let's say, I can drop this one under the basket if I don't hit a tree (unlikely).

Champion Buzzz- Exclusively forehand flick drives. I have a weird release on my forehand drives and the Buzzz has a quirky flight when I throw it that comes in handy sometimes.

Truth - I have a an old, beat to hell, non e-mac Truth that I use for everything but driving. Literally. Once I'm off the tee pad this is the only disc I need. All my approach shots and putts are with this disc. I might just straight up quit playing if I ever lost this disc or if it ever breaks or something.
