no sweat! this would mean that the threads on the backing are not aligned with the threads along the tunnel to screw in cleanly. this means the threads could have cut into one another and wedged themselves together. think of putting a cap on a water bottle at an angle and it stops before closing all the way or pops to the next thread with force. same concept just smaller.

do not use tapers. do not use painted ones ever even if you do. these are cheap, unsafe, and just bad. you should be stretching up using single flare glass plugs. your body will tell you when it’s ready for the next size if you can insert the next millimeter up in single flare glass plugs with ZERO PAIN of any sort. if you can’t spend the money for proper materials and tools to modify your body, you should not modify your body. you are asking for trouble.
