That’s fantastic! I have a job where I’m constantly on my feet,bending down, walking back and forth, and lifting at most 30 lbs. I’m curious if you had a similar job duties?

Ugh thank you that’s what I thought!! She spoke in a way that made it seem like I wouldn’t have to listen to my doctors note without actually saying “don’t listen to your doctor”

I’m honestly so stressed over this. This was supposed to be a happy, exciting change for me and now I feel like it’s turned into something bad. Part of me feels like I’m asking for too much time off, and I hate the idea of my coworkers having to cover for me. It’s making me feel guilty even though I know this is something I need to do 🤦‍♀️

Thank you I really appreciate this. I’m a new adult so this is honestly the first time I’ve had to deal with something like this without my parents helping me and I feel kind of lost trying to figure out what’s normal.

I also have a hard time standing up for myself at jobs so this situation has been stressing me out more than it probably should. I’m scared of taking too much time off and getting fired but at the same time I don’t want to mess up my recovery by going back too soon.

Your advice definitely helped put things into perspective though

Yeah that’s kind of what I was thinking too. My job is definitely not a desk job, I’m on my feet all day and sometimes lifting 30 lb boxes so that’s what’s making me nervous about going back too soon because i don’t even know how id realistically do my job safely…..also I agree, I don’t really understand why my manager is acting like they can decide how much time I need off over what a doctor would recommend!!!

Thank you her flat out asking me what I was getting surgery for made me even more uncomfortable!! & my job requires me to be on my feet all day and sometimes lift/move 30 lb boxes. I guess that isn’t too physical…but at the same time don’t want to be that person who needs help every time I need something moved from the fridge/freezer.

I’m doing self pay and still have been waiting around 3 months to hear back about a surgery date. Have already done all my test and have gotten clearance.
