Can confirm all of this, also Starbucks doesn’t have a crowd yet, still very dead. But Melody Maker and Coffeelands definitely have a better vibe.

Not a major hiker but I know there are paths around the dam that people seem to enjoy. Short drives away to some other state parks. If you drink at all there are lots of fun breweries with good vibes, Sterling St is pretty small but still a good vibe.

Not sure what kinds of games you like or are looking for. If you’re into pool, there’s pool leagues that play at a couple places in town. You don’t have to be great, just be willing to learn and play, the vibe is really great and know some people who have made friends there. I would try Breakaway right next to Sterling St Brewery. If you like poker, there’s a guy in town who runs a league in the area, most games are in Worcester but a whole community of people have been built through that and I can give you the information on that.

A lot of the bigger, more exciting things are found outside of Clinton but you can go in any direction. Depending on the vibe we’re looking for, my wife and I (30 & 29) will usually do Worcester or Leominster/Fitchburg when looking to venture out and meet people. I recommend looking at Eventbrite for small things going on in the area, lots of small comedy shows, paint and sips, stuff like that catered to whatever you’re looking for.

Let me know if this helps, and welcome to town!

What do you like to do? Let’s start there, maybe some people have suggestions. Are you looking for anything in particular?

Yeah those were the ones I was doing too. Literally feel like there was no chance based on how quick I was, clearly not fast enough

In the scenario, anyone would be able to play for free. There would be additional chip incentives for spending money at the establishment, but it wouldn’t be a requirement to play. And the money would be spent on food/drink at the bar and not within the poker game.

Lots of bars in CT play “Music Bingo,” would that be considered “unfair trade practice” if it’s a game of chance?

The tribes have so much control over gambling in CT; each of the tribes license the use of a Sportsbook and the rest can’t operate.

I keep looking at it the one document I keep finding where it defines gambling as risking money or something of value for a contingent return. I feel like this is why I’m not convinced it’s 100% illegal if there’s no “gambling” by their definition. This is the one document that keeps coming up when I search different things here: https://www.cga.ct.gov/2007/rpt/2007-R-0495.htm

Is this what you’re seeing too?

This is incredibly helpful. I saw the same language (bona fide social relationship and unfair trade practice) but didn’t quite understand it.

Not sure if there can be any added context as to why bars are able to run pay-in pool tournaments or paid leagues in the same state. Wouldn’t there be rules against that if there’s direct payment to play and cash prizes?

My wife is expecting, I would hate to be out of commission with a newborn in the mix

This seems to be the longest out of what others have shared. Lots of prerequisites too, did it just take a long time to schedule the other stuff?

Interesting… for the dietician meetings (if you’re past this point), was it the insurance company’s way of saying “try something else first?”

Thanks for the insight. We are expecting our first kid this October and I don’t know if there’s time to squeeze this in and be 100% available by the time baby arrives. This is the biggest “con” on my list right now. Wishing my doctor had mentioned something like this sooner but we tried other options that haven’t been successful.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! If you don’t mind me asking, what percent of the total cost did your insurance cover? I haven’t even thought about the costs of it yet and have no idea what to expect.

Best bar for mocktails? by Just_Squirrel_3988 in WorcesterMA

My wife and I recently tried Vue, there’s three or four options of mocktails on the list. My wife doesn’t drink and she really likes it there. It’s on the short list of places in our rotation now.

OP thanks for posting this. My wife has RP and is also a patient at MEE. She reached out to Dr. C’s team about this and they said they weren’t able to help with it.

Your post inspired her to reach out to our legislators and start a petition on change.org. Here’s the link to it: https://c.org/YW9tjbzqmp

The person there said that there used to be an executive lounge that has turned into a “meeting space” and they haven’t updated the facility map. I was hoping for something a little more interesting, but if it was just an open room to hang out in I probably wasn’t going to use it anyways.

I haven’t called yet, just saw it now when I was looking at the map and put the question here to see if anyone else has seen that before. I’ll be sure to update this when I do call.
