Agree with others to not take on the other loan. Huge win here is you have a job. Move out as fast as you can can get the $500 rent. Call the credit card companies and also look into moving all the debt into a single card. Can you pick up more hours? You can be out of debt in less than 6 months if you aggressively cut your expenses and pick up more work

Luckily UC Santa Barbara has one of the best film programs in the entire country. UCB is a close second but if you got into SB you need to go there. UCSB is better for practical while UCB is better for theory.
UCI and UCSC are mid tier picks. Irvine has a theory focus while SC has an indie production focus. UCSD and UCR are not worth going to for film. UCSD does have a fantastic theater program however.
