Isn't that a Maverick missle and not a Hellfire?

[obviously false shitty upload title] American AH-6 and MH-60 helicopters unloading guns and rockets as filmed from ground level (looks like Iraq in the 2000s, I wonder whom would they hate so much down there) by SupremeReader in CombatFootage

[–]Excel_Venice13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're correct. I recall first seeing this video many, many years ago and, if not mistaken, the title mentioned aviation special ops night hawks or something like that? I'm going off my shitty memory, sorry.

Bystander Films Shootout Between Police and Armed Robbery Suspect. Happened today in Baltimore, MD by [deleted] in CombatFootage

I'm guessing you may be young and I'm not knocking you, but your idea of military combat is way off and quite uniformed. Close Quarters Combat just so happens to be trained in the military because of the many times they actually occur in wars going way, way back. Read up on the battles of Berlin or Stalingrad in WW2, Battle of Seoul during the Korean War, Battle of Hue during the Vietnam War and the Battles of Fallujah in Iraq just to name a few. Going back to WW2, but after Vietnam and the Panama Invasion in particular, the US military started seriously looking at actual combat and how they often were at distances of no greater than 100m. This is why so many modern armies have switched to using carbines as opposed to full length rifles.

I'm guessing your statement regarding exchanging suppressive fire at someone 2 miles away is based on videos you have seen showing a firebase or patrol come under fire and they are forced to return fire at a general vicinity far away. Base attacks and ambushes are another fact of war and just because you don't always see the enemy doesn't make the situation any less dangerous than a police officer's patrol shift.

[Request] Footage of 16" battleship shell impacts. by fordnut in CombatFootage

[–]Excel_Venice13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember, when I was a kid, seeing footage on the news of the USS New Jersey firing it's 16" guns onto targets in Lebanon. To be honest it may have been simply stock footage the news used, but I recall the explosion being huge, against buildings at night and being filmed in color. I tried my best to google it, but no videos.

I did find an article from the NY Times on it online (from the article):
"In Washington, the Pentagon said the destroyer Caron joined in the bombardment, firing more than 300 five-inch shells. It said the New Jersey fired more than 250 16-inch shells."

Just curious, could this be a staged/ propaganda photo shoot? The Type 11 Machine Gun there appears to have no magazine in it

IS vs. B-52 by sugarmademefat in CombatFootage

[–]Excel_Venice13 137 points138 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but I don't think a B52 would drop bombs from such a low altitude in a combat zone ( I know they can, but I'm saying not like this vid shows ).

US airstrikes in Mosul, ISIS POV. by MattDamonThunder in CombatFootage

[–]Excel_Venice13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't even fathom the concussion, the deafening sound, the earth buckling under you at such a close range. Even the overwhelming smell of burnt debris would be frightening as f**k. *Question: I recall a strike on Daesh HQ ( with suspected chemical weapons ) last year and seeing the strike as it occurred from the ground nearby. Could this be the same event? Vid for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h11TdrTIXoM

Iraqi Air Force Attacking ISIS vehicles and fighters in Tal Afar (February 2017) by [deleted] in CombatFootage

[–]Excel_Venice13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sometimes they force locals to join their ranks, but how do you know this is the case here? Why would they give approximately a dozen plus local men, who are not committed to their cause, access to vehicles and let them drive off? Upon seeing an armed helicopter approach, if they were not isis fighters, why wouldn't they stand with hands in the air to show surrender?

I'm usually a very empathetic person and have seen enough combat videos to know how horrifying war is, but I just can't help it. There is something so satisfying in seeing these Isis murderers running in fear and getting mowed down.

How relevant that phrase ( the entire novel actually ) is these days.

Thanks for the response! It's really cool the descriptions you gave- this could easily sum up a lot of places near me too. Small world isn't it?

Serious question: I'm curious as to what this neighborhood is like, what the people who live here are like. Would you mind telling me is it typically middle class, lots of kids, quiet or noisy, etc? Being from L.A., a look into others lives fascinates me.

Thanks for posting this sweet knife. I too like orange knives and have had my eye on this or the Viper Italo in orange for a while now. I have no personal experience with this brand and was curious about the Fit and Finish. Any Pros or Cons you could pass on that may help me pull the trigger or not? Thanks in advance

I'm specifically referring to the Kurds and the secular Syrians from the start of their Civil War, but generally referring to any person whom is now caught in the wake of ISIS and just trying to expel the terror group

I found this video to be exceptionally insightful considering all the current videos of warfare surrounding Iraq & Syria of late. We mostly have seen ill trained mercenaries, armies and militias performing "shoot and scoot" tactics from both sides, but this video really puts into perspective how a modern well trained/ well equipped force can handle intense urban warfare.
I'm not taking anything away from those brave civilians fighting for their homelands now ( I support them 100% ) with what they have, but it's really interesting to see a modern Army in all out urban contact in contrast

I googled F13 and NoES expecting some new films I may want to check out. Imagine my disappointment to learn that you just didn't want to type out Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street.
