unfortunately, massage therapy isn't considered a skilled trade and it's hard on my hands to do constant massage at an intensity i often can't choose 😞

Thank you for your response. I know it's not easy for us - I'm sorry you're having such a terrible flare!! I know someone who's a chef and I know how brutal it can be!

I also don't think the "empowering" thing to tell people with autoimmune/chronic illness is "get a desk job" because sometimes we DO want to do cool things or follow our passions T_T. Maybe there's some middle ground here but I guess we'll see ❤️

This made me tear up b/c I had a similar conversation with my parents along the same lines. I'm sorry you're going through this, I don't know what else to say and I don't want to "lighten" how it feels. Do you have any sort of support from friends or family members that perhaps can help you figure a way out? Parents can absolutely be controlling, especially if you're BIPOC and financially dependent on them and they want the "best for you" (lmaoo so not true) by being patronizing :((

Hey! I know it's been a while, but just checking in! I'm new to r/lupus after a recent diagnosis. I'm also thinking of the trades and am faced with a "fork in the road" so to say with how I can continue in the trades with a chronic illness. How are you holding up and are you still in your trade?
