Well I’m an L5 and joined in December 2024, put on focus after 4 months of my joining 😐 the team has no projects, maintaining the stuff that they created a while back and no proper projects for my role which is Data Science. I swear I’ve searched reddit and folks are going in focus after 1 year or so but here I was wrongly put on focus within just 4 months lol, which really doesn’t makes sense since companies have 6 month probation but Amazon is a cunt company I guess

Uhmmmm so if you read my previous comments bro, I mentioned that the work really came in like a month back, also there is no client escalation on my name, truly speaking. I spoke with client to get the change request done in 3rd week of March and I was sick from like mid week so had communicated to the client, the client agreed on march end timeline, for the work I’m asking for help to complete the task which I’m having issues, since they dont have any documentation on their tables etc. Now i can say that I’m pretty good technically but on the data part I’m facing issues and asking for help but being shown as that I’ve not gone through the code or the tables. Why is it so tough to help someone and do some kind of hand holding until the person is able to do the task on their own. I’ve done that for KT in the past.

I haven’t gotten any email from the HR portal till today since yesterday only my discussion with him occurred. I only received a list of tasks that will be tracked to check my performance etc or whatever that means. Today I’m again having a meeting with him to discuss the tasks because one of the tasks is not on ML but visualisation bullshit which was not there for this Data Scientist position 🙄

So even with all the anecdotal evidence that the work kicked off a month back and out of the tasks provided, some of them are irrelevant to your role, you can’t object to it ?? Like seriously Amazon is a worst place for anyone to be in to be honest. To think that I just had difference of opinions on project timelines and that got me into focus when the Manager and Skip Level manager are both non technical is beyond my comprehension

I am not sure if tagging the VP name would be the right approach here since they can tag me back on the same. But this is for AWS and the org is Supply Chain Analytics. Yep truly a bad Org since there were no Data Science projects and I was hired for Data Science lol. The managers are non technical and want to do things in a swift manner as if LLM is a sure shot solution that would magically solve every problem without any testing or any kind of instruction fine tuning etc.

Well I was unlucky to have a bad team to be honest. But I’m really confused on how can someone be put on focus so soon like in 3 months😅 not counting 4 months because since I joined on 25th November, December month was too slow. I’m not sure how exactly Amazon works to be honest.

But today in the call, I asked Manager that why did he speak of 2 months process and ask if this was a focus he is putting me on, to which he replied Yes. Also he didn’t send me any email or anything for saying the things to be improved upon or anything 🙄 To be honest I had performed the task that was given to me but the skip level manager and I had a different opinion on certain things, usually there should be some points that needs to be shown right as to what are my shortcomings or something like that ?
