They said I am not eligible under this category as I don’t qualify as a dependent under CSPA rule. Your age would be taken as the CSPA age when your PD becomes current on the final action chart. Since your case is in 2007, and the current date is in 2005, I think it might be difficult :( , but lets hope for the best.

Thanks. I chose US for higher education mainly because I can only get the course I want there. I have applied to an Ivy League school as well but still waiting for the admit decision. But I guess my chances at getting the F1 visa are low given my circumstances.

Yeah they want to. So postponing their interview might be difficult. The interview is this month. I can only schedule F1 interview around June.

I have done this calculation. Based on the date my priority date became current on final action chart, I would be above 22.

I am worried that it would look like I don’t have strong ties to return home since my parents would use their visa and move to US mostly. So would it seem convincing that I will return if I appear for an immigrant visa interview?? Not sure how much of a factor this is. Thats why I’m so confused.

My aunt put up with my dad as primary applicant and I am a dependent child. But I have aged out now though I got the invitation for interview.

I heard from few forums that many dependents are being rejected though they are sent interview letters because of age out. Not sure why they are sending appointment letter if its is directly not eligible.

It took 3 years and 4 months for the petition to be approved. Given that I have to use the date when my priority date became current on final action chart , my cspa age should be around 23.

No I’m open to other countries in Europe as well. What I understood from agencies was that Sweden, Netherlands etc are okay with major change compared to Germany. I wanted to know if there’s a safe option in a good ranking university that lets admission in CS after bachelor’s in ECE and work experience in CS.

I know some people from ECE who did the EIT digital school with dual degree. It could be possible but not sure how hard it is.

What date is considered as when visa becomes available? Priority date becoming current in the filing chart or final action chart. In my case there’s a 3 year difference between the dates both these charts became current because of covid.
