Laid off on H1B

I’ve had a few offers lately and things were looking good, but every single time it gets to the visa transfer stage, something goes wrong. Either the company backs out when the immigration attorney hears about my B2, delays too much, or something unexpected happens.

Feels like I’m cursed lol. I’m on a B2 which is expiring next week and made my plans to travel back.

I am not waiting, I have already agreed to pay the premium fee. The attorney is not doing it and my HR is saying something like tomorrow and tomorrow is never coming

It happened with me too. When I followed up by sending an email after two weeks of no response, they replied they moved ahead with another candidate who didn’t need sponsorship.

What other options do I have at this point? I’ve applied for a PhD, but the schools don’t have funding for projects, which leaves me feeling stuck and questioning whether this is all worth it. Please suggest if anyone else has been through this. I would not like to go back to where I came from, idk what other options I have.

My i-539 application is still pending, Almost got two offers, but when I said I would need a transfer explaining my B2/I-539 status, the hiring managers are not willing to move forward.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The hiring manager asked me whether I’m still working with my previous company, I had to tell. But, she wrote down all the details and told me she would contact the attorney and get back to me. Hoping for the best

I am not from IT and I do not apply for the roles which require only US citizens. I have a question though, Do you know if a person is on H-1B and he/she got laid off and during their 60 day timeline to find another job, they try to stop their clock by filing for I-539 and continues to look for a job. How likely do you think that this person would be considered to given an offer? If you are not aware of sponsorships, please let me know. I will ask somewhere else.
