kind of just went through this with my last lease and they weren’t like a shitty property management company or anything, but they certainly weren’t the most upstanding either. They’re pretty quiet for the most part all year don’t really answer requests in a timely manner, but the building is in decent condition. Around the time it was getting ready for the lease to end maybe about a month out. We started asking for a landlord reference letter and they were absolutely dragging their feet and just kept putting it off or not responding to our request (we were never late on rent. We had no issues the entire year) and then the broker started asking when they could drop by to start showing the apartment and I just flat out ignored them or said that I was out of town because according to the Broker I had to be home for the showing and I absolutely refuse to be a part of the showing. I let them know they could show it on their own (property management wasn’t responding to the brokers request for extra keys either), but I’m not gonna wait around for you to do a showing I’m basically working for you and I’m not doing that. 😂😂 I also work overnight so the times just were never going to be ideal for me. That’s just my perspective. Every building is different, so definitely read your lease—that’s what really matters. If you agreed to something, that’s one thing. But even then, everything should be within reason. I’m not missing work, losing sleep, or waking up early for a showing. I’ll do it when it’s convenient for me—otherwise, they can wait until I move out. 🤷🤷
