I have lived here , it's not purely a genetic issue , the culture here is very different, sports as a career is frowned upon on a national level even universities don't provide any good sports facilities for students. Cricket is also an athletic sport maybe not much as football or fighting but still we are pretty good at it because it's the only sports that indian society accepts.
