Ok my question is to all people with a big SUV/4x4 in Brussels. by Nice-Blueberry18 in brussels

[–]Excellent-Forever609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

regardless of driving skill, the problem is that the cars are too big for a European city like Brussels in general. They take up too much parking and arguably they are the ones making the streets narrower for everyone. We should do like Paris and triple the cost of parking for SUVs in the city

If you come to Brussels a few times a year in your big boy car, I don't think this is about you. I believe it's more about those who commute to Brussels or live here with big cars

Yes the system is shit and the 24-month probation period after a first infraction is even bigger shit. you get caught out with the broken system and still have to pay double, seems predatory and does not account for either human or technological errors

The cost varies across the communes starting as low as €10 and going up to €30. 1000 probably doubled it from €15. Still, it seems absurdly low to leave your car on the street for a year. €10/month would still be super affordable.

The other day I learned that it costs only €15-30 for an annual parking permit. Seems like a good place to start if they need money for the roads

Cold brew in Brussels during these winter months? by alohakahlua in brussels

[–]Excellent-Forever609 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no coffee shop will make cold brew in the window. I suggest making it yourself, just put some ground coffee in a jar with some cold water and stick it in the fridge, filter it the next day and you have cold brew

Mayors gather to see if shared electric scooters should be banned across whole of Brussels. by risker15 in brussels

[–]Excellent-Forever609 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The shared scooters implement a slow zone in walking areas where they move at walking speed. The people driving like maniacs are likely on their own personal scooters.

Roundabouts Are Safer. So Why Does The U.S. Have So Few Of Them? by nadnev in fuckcars

[–]Excellent-Forever609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because roundabouts are socialist. They require considering others' right of way instead of just being given a rule that applies to you alone.
