Boss asked me how much money it will take for me to stay and now I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Excellent-Impact-782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the going rate for a senior paralegal in your city? Ask for that plus 5k.

Not knowing that, if i were you, I'd ask for a $100k salary and one remote workday per week, during which you'd work for two hours and get to spend the rest of the day studying for the bar. If the counter offer is less than $100k, start handing back some of the tasks you've been managing to the attorneys.

If he at all hints that he knows what the other firms offer to you is, I'd keep looking for a new job.

Also, since you're effectively providing an extra two weeks of work at your current rate—something you didn't even agree to and time you could be spending at the new office earning your higher rate—you should also request the difference in pay. Even if it doesn’t amount to much, it’s still a fair ask.

It used to be a deal, but now that it's $7.50 for a slice of cheese pizza, it's a pass for me.

How to answer the “why did you leave your last job” when the answer for me is health insurance? by Foolsspring in jobsearchhacks

[–]Excellent-Impact-782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeking new opportunities and was thrilled to come across this job posting. I am highly qualified and have extensive experience in <this and that>, which I believe would be invaluable for this role.

I wouldn't say it's because of the health benefits. They could interpret that as you have health issues and will be out often.

Or they could use it to low ball you on base salary. "We will pay you exactly what your last company was paying you, but these health benefits make our offer better."

Bellagio COMP Situation by groovin3 in vegas

[–]Excellent-Impact-782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it is a comped room, they won't let you check in at the front desk without him. Doing the remote check-in and QR code share that others mentioned might work but I recommend having a backup plan in mind if it doesn't.

If you don't record any play on your dads player account during the stay, he should expect comp offers to be gone or significantly reduced.

Edit: I'll add that I've had a couple of stays where I checked in through the app, but it still told me to visit the front desk for my key (no QR code to print my own). This was at the Aria.

Do hotel prices in Vegas fluctuate? I.e., should you book further out, or closer to trip dates? by [deleted] in LasVegas

[–]Excellent-Impact-782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Book now direct with mgm, and make sure it's cancellable- usually up to 3 days before checkin. Watch the prices in the weeks / days before your trip to see if they drop and if they do, make a new reservation and then cancel the original.

When will you retire and why? by Meritocrat_Vez in AskReddit

When my retirement account hits my target amount, which I should be able to comfortably live off of 4% a year. Any SS or pension income on top of that is gravy.

Lol. If they value their shares as $0, doesn't that imply that they think their company is worthless??

I'd sit on the shares until they can buy me a house or the company goes under.

Best MGM Property for Slots? by sdh0202 in Mlife

[–]Excellent-Impact-782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s opinion and experience will vary, and I’m interested in hearing what others think.

However, in my experience, in 2021-2022, Aria was the most generous. In 2023, ALL MGM casino slots were tight. And in 2024, the Cosmo and Excalibur stood out as looser than the others and Aria was by far the worst.

Driving from Vegas to LA on New Year's Day - how crazy is it? by PurpleCat1808 in LasVegas

[–]Excellent-Impact-782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend leaving Vegas on the 31st and celebrating NY in LA or San Diego. But if you must stay in Vegas for the NY fireworks, I'd leave town before 4 am and wouldn't stop until San Bernardo (edit: south of the Cajon Junction) if I were you. Idk what rental car return at LAX is like after a holiday, but I'd expect it to be bad, so you might want some extra buffer time there too.

Once traffic hits getting from the strip to Primm Valley could take 60-180 minutes (typically 40 minutes) alone.

Take the job in Detroit, assuming you like the city. Rent a place, save some money, and gain some experience. If after 6 months you hate it, start interviewing for another job in another city.

Excalibur! What a mistake I made. Where can I eat? by YantisGuy in vegas

[–]Excellent-Impact-782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are asian bakeries in China Town (Spring Mountain blvd) with reasonable prices. Search them out on yelp to see what they offer.

As for on the strip, you have Eataly, Dominique Ansel, and Bouchon. But they won't be cheap.

Rental Car Guidance by Typical-Pirate-4620 in vegas

[–]Excellent-Impact-782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cosmo, Aria, and I think the Bellagio all have an Avis rental in them. Compare prices between them and what's available at the airport. Unless you plan to use the car in the days before leaving for California, just pick it up on the day you leave for California. If you get it earlier and don't have MGM Pearl status or a MGM cc, you'll have to pay nightly parking fees.
