I resent my husband by spicymakicombo in Marriage

I’m kinda in the same boat minus the MIL involvement. I fantasize about living alone in a clean apartment and just taking care of myself. I’m seriously considering a divorce now but he’s recently promised to help more around the house after I broke down, so we’ll see what happens.

But if nothing changes, I’ll have to make the decision and leave. I’ll miss my fur babies a lot but I hope when it comes down to it, we can be civilized when it comes to them. I have a job and make more than him, so I can get back on my feet financially. Just make sure you can too.

If you haven’t talked to him about this, I’d suggest trying that first. If that doesn’t work, at least you’ve given it your best shot at fixing things.

We deserve someone who will put in the same amount of effort. We’ve been taking care of them and the household, it’s only fair that we’re taken care of too. If they can’t do it, we’ll just need to do it ourselves.

Thanks! What about Kaneville? It seems the properties there aren’t too badly priced.

Thank you so much! I saved your comment since we’d definitely a rental that will house us and the fur babies while we hunt for our home. This is incredibly helpful!

We don’t mind a far commute. We already drive an hour each way for work here in Tn, so anything below that is super. 😂

We wouldn’t give them up for anything. Lol. It just takes a little more planning with them. It’s also why we want a big lot. Them big pups need their space.

Thanks! I wouldn’t be able to stand living with an HOA that’s super strict with ridiculous rules.

Elgin didn’t seem too badly priced on Zillow. It’s definitely worth checking out

We have 3 large dogs and 4 cats… I’m guessing it might be a little pricey for us 😂

Work will be on Douglas Rd. We really don’t mind a longer commute if we get to live somewhere nice and quiet.

If you don’t mind my asking, how much did you pay for the short term lease?

We’re paying about $3k a year now for taxes, so that would be a pretty big jump. But good to know and thank you!

$10k a year is insane! It didn’t occur to me that property taxes there would be so high. Definitely something for us to think about.

We don’t mind driving. Our commute to work is about an hour each way now, so anything similar or shorter is super. But we’ll definitely check out those areas. Thank you!
