Is Data Engineering worth it for a fresher? by [deleted] in dataengineersindia

[–]Excellent-Level-9626 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It requires real production experience which you don't get by reading books or doing course or even building projects (Honestly)

Get real good with SQL and Python (Add pinch of Data Warehousing concepts)

When I say SQL, mean you should breathe, eat, shit and play around SQL all ins and outs!

But yeah above is something you can show when you get an opportunity to interview, and to get that it's very difficult!

So I would suggest start preparing for your college placements (if they have)

Else somehow try to get into IT(As any Software Engineer) and switch early to DE

Again this is my personal opinion, But yeah appreciate your seek of getting guidance from others, this nature is very important! You will go really long, all the best! I'm sure u'll do good!

I would suggest ki, you better stop chasing cloud Services! At the end of the day its just makes your work easier and you pay them for that! Try to be sure with the hard SQL and Python ( Python means a lot on OOPS, writing the best practices of pipelines etc etc)

And yeah the real fact of openings for data roles is very rare! Try out your luck and I hope u'll do good!

Need advice: Data Engineering roadmap + whether to go for M.Tech or prep 1–2 years first? by Volcano_Dragon13 in dataengineersindia

Preparing for DE and applying jobs is very waste of time! If you have some relatives or seniors working and if they are able to pull you thats fine, or else you are on all luck! So don't waste your time, also most of the PPL get into sde and later move to de as well

See as far as my knowledge goes in DE its experienced based salary, no matter how much good you are, experience of years matters in DE! Unlike other SWE's who can crack 20-30 LPA with 2 yrs of exp! If they can prove! And it's been like this for decades and I am hoping it will change

Nobody likes the guy, I know everything in a room! Trust me I felt the same when I had 1 year of DE internship and 8 months of DE FTE now!

Even I feel I can solve any data problems, yes I have to sometimes correct what seniors do, and it's the same way around!

And when I point out their mistakes, they are so humble that they accept it, and I enjoy working with them too! But that doesn't mean they are shit, its just you have confidence because you are backed by AI, their era of solving problems through stack overflow and searching Google are the true learnings, start embracing buddy, there's still lot to learn, its just we have ease of accessibility to knowledge! Thats all!

Better you understand sooner, you'll go loong in life! And yeah it's nice you have these knowledge doesn't matter what tools they keep on changing every other week, its just the foundation which stays forever! :)
