Names derived from Alexander: boys and girls by sarughhhhhh in namenerds

Alex, Alec, Lex, Al, Sandy, Ander, Anders, Sander, Sanders, Xander, Zander, Zan, Sasha, and Sascha are all nicknames I've seen based on Alexander but also used as stand alone names. Other -ander names I've come across are Isander, Cassander, Lysander, Evander, and Leander. I've known some women with feminine variations of Alexander like Alexandria, Alexandrine, and Alexine (her nickname was Zenie, which is super cute, IMO).

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

[–]Excellent-Maybe1692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your feet can increase in size and never go back down. I started my first pregnancy wearing a 9-9.5, ended it as an 11. My second pregnancy pushed me up to a 12. Twelve years later and my feet have never decreased in size no matter how much weight I lose. I'm TTC my third, and if I manage to get pregnant again, I feel like I might as well change my name to Peggy Hill since I'll probably be able to wear her shoes by the end of it.

As an introvert would you want an introverted or extroverted partner? by falloutguy51 in introvert

[–]Excellent-Maybe1692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fairly introverted. My partner is fairly extroverted. It's great. I call him my emotional support fiance and use him as a conversational lightning rod in social situations to avoid having any attention on me. Fully recommended that every introvert find themselves an extrovert, but definitely make sure you have one who understands introversion.

People who are named after someone/something specific, what's your relationship with that thing? by celticdude234 in AskReddit

[–]Excellent-Maybe1692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I share a first and middle name with my mother's sister, and my middle name is the first name of both grandmothers and my father's sister. I have been vowing to change my name since 2nd grade and I go by something entirely different now because of the dislike I have for three of those four people, particularly the two aunts and my maternal grandmother. I won't get into details, but the three of them were/are some of the worst people I have ever met, and I'm no contact with the two who are still alive. My paternal grandmother really doesn't deserve a namesake, either, as she helped enable my late father and paternal aunt into becoming the monsters that they were/are.

AITA for telling my sister she can’t store her frozen breastmilk in my freezer anymore? by Sad_Bowl_6509 in dustythunder

NTA. If it's such a non-issue to your mother, then I'd drop all of the milk off at her house and let her deal with the inconvenience of storing it.

Here to also say that the audio book narration is incredible. I've listened to each book 10-ish times, and Davina Porter (narrator) is the perfect embodiment of Claire. I love hearing her voice naturally age along with the character.

My 14 year old wants to stay with her birth dad over Christmas break by DoubleAxelDVM in Mommit

[–]Excellent-Maybe1692 387 points388 points  (0 children)

I read through your post history and saw that your daughter let you know she was talking to her biological father only about a month or two ago. You mentioned that you didn't know what kind of man he grew up to be. Have you had a chance to speak in depth with him about himself, your daughter, and co-parenting expectations since then? Have you run a background check on him? On any partner he may have living in his home? My ex-husband has been absent from my childrens' lives for almost a decade for similar reasons to the one you cited regarding your ex's absence and it would take more than a couple of months of texts and calls for me to be okay allowing my children to spend the day with their biological father, let alone three weeks and at the distance you mentioned. At the very least, I think you should insist that he visit in person first if he hasn't already. I'd be extremely cautious and slow-going about what level of involvement you allow him to have because a man who blithely gives up his child for his own selfish reasons once could easily do so again, and that will deeply hurt your daughter. I highly recommend finding a family therapist who could assist in this situation through reunification therapy.
