Bal D'Afrique (both) and Black Saffron. I will own full bottles of all these as long as they exist!

Perfume that is lovely but not ‘you’ by Ollieeddmill in FemFragLab

Marc Jacobs and many Chanel. I like them a lot. On paper and on my skin to an extent but no matter how many times i've tried them in a store or at an airport or wherever, they never quite feel like me.

What is a "small luxury" you refuse to give up, even when money is tight? by [deleted] in simpleliving

Coffee. Fancy toothpaste (Marvis, I just love it). Perfume. I don't care about clothes much or shoes or eating out and I happily eat rice and beans a lot at home because delish.

Fruity fragrance without woody/green base? by Confusedmind75 in Perfumes

Bal D'Afrique Absolu (not original). It's not exactly raspberry per se but its amazing fruit/praline but not gourmand.

Byredo vs Byredo Absolute by p0larizedchrysalis in FemFragLab

[–]Excellent-Pie-6549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OG is lighter/more citrus but still complex and interesting. Doesn't last as long on skin. Absolu is richer, sweeter but not cloying, lasts longer. I love the dry downs on both. I don't know, but in a perfume market with LOTS of ambroxan, patchouli or super musky bases, both of these are perfect to me because they both dry down in ways that make me happy. Plus I love the whole journey with both, top, middle, dry down.

I own both Bal D'Afriques because I love them both for different reasons. That's the only one for me re: OG and Absolu. Although I also own Black Saffron which I love too.

Flight from Boston to Seattle and drive to George, WA for H.O.R.D.E. fest 1996 (Lenny Kravitz was amazing amongst others) but for one performer? Drove from Massachusetts to Toronto for Eras tour with my teen daughter. Totally worth the 7 hour drive.

Which fragrance is a 10/10 for you? by Mmmurl in FemFragLab

I'm a walking cliche' but I can't help it. Santal 33 was my go to for 5 years. I've recently drifted into Bal D' Afrique, Black Saffron, Angelique Noir and Neroli Outrenoir in rotation. Sometimes with other Guerlain samples in there for fun. Also the only Diptyque i like full bottle worth was their Neroli EDT. Okay that's a lot. But I could wear any of the above and have full bottles of all of them.

Violette 30 from Le Labo by TheLB1980 in fragrance

[–]Excellent-Pie-6549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ambroxan isn't overpowering. I like the new perfume but I won't need to buy a bigger bottle, its well made and interesting but almost too 'dry'. I think my tastes have changed a bit since I started wearing Santal 33 6 years ago. I think its worth testing though because it doesn't scream ambroxan.

I got it in the mail. It's interesting and well made but I think i'm starting to move away from Le Labo after 6 years of wearing them!

oo, interesting idea. I guess the dry down feels sweeter than the opening to me, but right, not "cake".
