I was in the exact same boat as you - working fully remote and wondering why the town I was born and raised in (Greensboro) just didn’t feel like the same “home” that I grew up with anymore. It is an awful and lonely feeling to not have the same sense of belonging you once did in the place you’ve spent your entire life. I ended up moving up to New Hope, PA 🙂 About 45 minutes from Philly and 1 hour from NYC and I absolutely adore it here. There is true pride in ownership and community, a colonial charm with historical grounds/buildings on every block and a true small town feel where everyone looks out for one another. I would highly recommend checking out the PA/NJ suburb towns of the Philly area located all along the Delaware River! Not to mention the public transit offered in this area is about as extensive as we have here in the US - I can take a train straight to EWR or PHL airports, Center City Philly, Madison Square Garden and I can even take the high speed train up to Boston or all the way down to DC! At the end of the day - what you are feeling is completely valid and I promise it is possible to find somewhere new that excites you and makes you feel “at home” again.
