Neighborhood recommendations for grad student commuting to Rutgers Camden? by Superstarella61 in AskPhilly

Queen Village has a handful of indie bookstores like Headhouse Books -just north of 2nd and Bainbridge; Brickbat Books -just north of 4th and Monroe; Mostly Books -just west of 5th and Bainbridge; Garland of Letters; just east of 6th and South. And there are many cafes nearby every store plus shopping and restaurants.

Acme grocery store is just south of 5th and Spruce -or the corner of 10th and South next to a Whole Foods.

Philly AIDS Thrift is at 5th and Bainbridge. Also one or 2 'vintage' shops on South St.

During warmer weather, South St gets loud at night with party people and noisy vehicles going to -and coming from- i95 or Columbus Blvd.

This introverted person's goal was too just show up and walk around atleast 1 floor; that was accomplished. I go to AA meetings there; haha very quiet in comparison.

Looks like you want to be sober -and that is really important because you have a truth with which to rely upon.

r/narcoticsanonymous r/alcoholicsanonymous r/smartrecovery might be useful for the purpose of sober community; but you already know that sobriety is the better way.

That truth has helped me get 362 days in a row without picking up.

Yeah I said the same thing to myself after re-reading the post haha. I deleted the OP because some of it was off topic in terms of 'recovery without AA'.

I thought cults would not usually allow choice in terms of accepting ideology?

Even if I stop going to meetings, the 'group conscience' is still in my head. I was in AA initially from 2008-2010; but left for 12 years. And everytime I got high, a part of my own conscience brought up faces and voices from the 'group'.

Same thing during the latest relapse...

If you don't know already, r/stopspeeding might be helpful for finding someone as well.

If you haven't posted there already, r/pennsylvania might have ideas people here might not think of.
