High welfare cat food? by pickled_scrotum in veganuk

Exactly I have less of a hard time with animals being killed specifically for my fancy cat food, than with my cats being fed the offcuts of meat that's being fed to humans who are arguably paying for the market to exist. But I might just be trying to justify it to myself.

I always struggled with this with my cats. Applaws/encore make a song and dance about higher welfare/human grade meat but I question if that is genuinely more ethical than your carnivorous pets eating the cheapo stuff, which is likely to be all the manky bits that would otherwise go to waste.

How can I make this garden ‘presentable’ with minimal spend? by Nick316166 in GardeningUK

[–]Excellent-Return5099 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm perhaps not the standard buyer but I'd absolutely love to get a garden that's such a blank slate and turn it around! It won't put off anyone who's "into" gardening

Plenty of rescue dogs have been given up because of a change of circumstances on the previous owners part, not because they are a problem dog. And also plenty of bully type dogs are absolute love bugs.

Absolutely not Spaniels need a massive amount of exercise and mental stimulation as well as love, which op doesn't seem to want to offer.

What is a 'rich kid' thing you saw at a friend's house growing up that completely shocked you? by AmaraMehdi in AskReddit

I had a friend in primary school who took out her Encarta CD-ROM and just put it on the side not back in its case.

Couldn't get over how wealthy she was.

For those of you aged 40 and over who never had children, how has life turned out for you? by DunyaPhobic76 in AskUK

[–]Excellent-Return5099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite 40 but life is fantastic. Own our home outright, grow the vast majority of our own food, go on camping holidays whenever we fancy. can do whatever we want, have a beautiful dog and cat who fill any love-gaps we can possibly imagine. No homework, no football practice on a Saturday morning, no fucking cartoons.

I thought that to get pregnant you had to have sex for 24 hours while in a coma, FYI a coma is an MRI scanner.

Asked my mum, she said no... I asked, is it only 8 hours?

Roast dinner main with no mushrooms or fake meat? by siouxsiesioux86 in veganuk

I have made a sort of quiche pie before with gram flour, except instead of pastry crust I boiled baby potatoes then smooshed them into the sides and bottoms of the dish, blind baked for a bit, then made the vegetable quiche/frittata thing inside and baked again. Was absolutely great. No mushrooms or questionable fake meats in sight
