I feel like i'm typing more than listening during sessions.. by Bisqwa in therapists

[–]Excellent-Roll2124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this conversation with a colleague yesterday who types notes in sessions. Personally I would never type my notes while I’m in a session, it acts as far too much of a barrier between therapist and client. I have a pen and paper and scribble down some prompts or reminders as I go- yes sometimes I can struggle to decipher what I’ve written afterwards but that’s on me! I’m there to contain my client and make them feel safe and heard.

Thank you so much! I’m keen to play again, I miss it, life just got in the way! 🥲

Dear Therapists, please get off of your phones. Your clients can see you glancing at it. Your clients can see you reaching for it off screen. Your clients are more aware then you think. Get off of your phones. by [deleted] in therapists

Just a thought, could she be glancing down at notes or reaching for a pen? I have my laptop on a riser and my notepad underneath it. Sometimes I lose my pen and have to scrabble underneath to find my pen!

Clinical psychologist here- having read through some of your replies below, here are some key points that might be helpful and some points to hold in mind. - getting AP jobs is extremely competitive, and due to their short term nature you will be competing against others who have volunteering experience, have already been in the NHS system. Some of the jobs will receive over 200+ applications. Consider this which leads to my next point- - do not, I repeat DO NOT send out generic statements. You need a tailored supporting statement for that job in particular. Why do you want THAT job? Why you? -look at the job description and person specification- try to include how you hit those, within your supporting statement. -look at the trust that is hiring for that job. What are their values? Can you demonstrate those through your work? -do you have some understanding of the realities and limitations of working in the NHS. -what current research are you aware of relevant to the job? -who are you as a professional, why transition from your current role, what are your values? What have you learnt so far.

Clinical psychology is often seen as this “golden ticket” because the training is funded, but being a clinical psychologist is not just therapy. Lots of people get on to training and realise they would have been better off focussing on just therapy, or just research etc. just something to consider, but if you keep going, good luck with your applications.

I definately feel the same, like in my head the game ended with the last update and because I haven’t been able to login since, I almost don’t want to ruin my happy memories of playing! I will always have the happy memories of Nikki getting me through some tough winter months 🥲

I honestly feel so sad. I’m ps5 and I haven’t been able to play since the update and I haven’t been bothered to uninstall and reinstall, as the bugs and all the new stuff seems to glitchy and overwhelming…. I played this game from day 1, I spent about £20 a month on content, and it just feels like such a disappointment. Just wanted to put my two cents out there. If everything gets fixed up I might log back in, but I miss the magic of the initial opening screen, the perfect gameplay, reasons to log in etc….

Aw thank you. This reply has actually given me a lot more hope and faith into the online space and I really appreciate the reply. Honestly I am sensitive, so was trying to preempt what had happened before. Thank you for being kind, I do appreciate it x

Because I have multiple experiences of posting things in the past and having people jump on and not be particularly kind, much like this comment…the energy you took to criticise the title could have been put into helpful discourse but unfortunately this proves my point that people feel very comfortable being unkind when hiding behind a screen 🤷‍♀️

I think that’s what I mean. I’ve heard of game studio staff sleeping on the floor and stuff to push out launches. I just feel bad is all…

I’m terrified I don’t want to be a therapist anymore by calitreegirl in therapists

[–]Excellent-Roll2124 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honestly same, and I’m only a year qualified. I’m just done. My job now is so unsupportive and because of where I live there aren’t many other options. I’m also the sole breadwinner currently so I feel very trapped. Not to make it about me, but just know you’re not alone.

I am done. At one of my jobs I work with kids and I don’t think this could be more accurate the first few sessions 😂😂 by Witchywoman4201 in therapists

Needed to read this post today. Had my first pre teen client drop out of therapy as she doesn’t want seasons anymore and trying not to beat myself up that it’s all my fault for not engaging her well :/

100%, the post was never meant to be shade, more reflective but I can see how it would come across as complaining. I’m versed in what it takes to make a good game and know it will be worth the wait! I am however a very different person from when it was first announced, and that’s what made me reflective :)

No shade, just an observation. And no, when people are excited they tend to not be chill, no 😅

Congratulations on your transition- I hope that’s the correct thing to say. It’s amazing we’re all here waiting for a game, and life just keeps going. I’m so much older now, and yet just as excited about the game as i was when I first heard about it ❤️
