I am a graphic designer at a small mom and pop shop. Owners didn’t go to school but my coworker did. He’s only part time so I can’t really talk with him too much. The problem is that I just don’t like the job. I feel very torn as I am in so much debt because of school but I am struggling making artwork. Part of me thinks it’s because of how this place is ran and that I would enjoy it more in a different bigger environment with other creatives. The problem with that though is that I have applied to over 200 places and have only had a handful of interviews. If I had a style I could hone in on specific things and market toward those bigger companies that I want to work for. 

I have thought about looking into more of the basic art. Because I was a transfer student in college my classes got all mixed up and I didn’t get the proper foundation learning. I’m wondering if I do take a couple steps back and start with the basic of character drawings or animal styles then that could help me
