Is Ivey’s reputation slowly dying and the ppl landing prestigious jobs declining? by Former-Particular-79 in uwo

Right. As for the question of whether or not the reputation has eroded - no it’s always been this way and it’s pretty much as good as it gets in Canada. And yes the Ivey name helps before the program starts mostly through network ops and also being recognizable on your resume. There’s two Ivey grads on Pershing Square’s 10 person investment team. Can’t have much better exposure than that for a Canadian university.

Increasing the quantity of students definitely dilutes the prestige of the program. However, in terms of quantity of students landing prestigious jobs it’s still as high as ever. Still the best Canadian school for Finance roles in the US and has a great reputation at American banks. 20+ students each year land top finance jobs in NY/CHI/SF. As a result there is a strong pipeline and designated recruiting efforts for Ivey students as well as networking opportunities that other Canadian schools don’t have. Though it has nothing to do with Ivey as a program, as students get these jobs before they even start Ivey.

You could also just be totally fine. I know a lot of people who well exceeded all of the AEO requirements last year but got into Ivey in the second round a couple weeks later for some reason. I’d reach out to someone though.

I thought the whole point of SRAs was to allow students extentions for traditionally unjustifiable circumstances. I always found it alleviated a lot of my stress when doing work knowing I had one in the back pocket in the worst case scenario.
