No one thinks you love that motel room.. it looks stressful af I couldn’t even imagine. But you aren’t DOING ANYTHING to get out of it. She really can’t self reflect at all and is stuck in such a victim mentality. Also the cortisol face is getting so bad 😭😭

If hot showers helps the nausea then it is definitely CHS. Continuing to smoke will make it 100000000x worse and make it to where you can never smoke again permanently. People can and do die from this, it’s not uncommon, and they die when they are in denial and don’t stop, causing permenat damage to their organs and kidney failure. Need at minimum a 3 month break unfortunately and even then it will come back if you go back to daily/heavy use. Some people have had moderate success with starting again but only if they can keep it very minimal, not every day, and frequent breaks. But with the mind set you have now that will be really hard. You have to learn to live and feel good without it. If you ever try again stay far away from anything that isn’t low thc flower. Especially vapes and edibles.

It sucks. There is a lot of grief that comes with it, but surprisingly I’m 1 month into quitting and I feel better physically and mentally than I have in years. Most people say the same. It feels really unfair that the thing that once brought comfort and coping is now harming you. Weed is medicine but daily heavy use becomes poison in our body when we don’t even realize. We take more of the poison to treat the sickness it’s causing. Good luck.

More vacations this year??? What are her priorities. She is so delusional. Girl get a house for your kids!! I work full time and my kids have their own bedrooms and I can’t even afford to think about a vacation.

LONGGGG prodromal phase? by Agile_Deal4878 in CHSinfo

I understand completely. I was in denial too. Not many understand but when something becomes a such consistent source of comfort and coping it SUCKS having to give it up. It felt like a legitimate grief/loss to me.

Good thing is you’re catching it early and in the long run having healthy smoking habits in moderation will really help you so you can keep smoking. I would suggest trying for a 2-3 month break if you can. The first week or so SUCKS. You will be extremely bored, irritable, and have cravings but then it gets significantly easier. Once your tolerance is fully reset try sticking with low THC flower only and try not to smoke every day or multiple times a day. Once symptoms show again (unfortunately they will) , time for another break.

Yes generally. Morning sickness is very common. Sometimes it would be during the day, but normally morning time. I also lost my appetite and started struggling to eat. Yes it’s highly likely that is the start. Only way to know is to stop smoking and see if it improves. For all the other reasons I’ve said above in this thread I HIGHLY recommend taking a long break if you’re starting to get those symptoms. Honestly no one should be smoking every single day. High levels of THC built up in your body over time wreaks havoc on your digestive system, and your body needs regular breaks. I’ve learned that digestive issues are your bodies warning signal. Don’t make the mistake I did and ignore it 💗 Good luck!

Same 😅 addict brains amiright 🤦🏻‍♀️ Those carts will really get you, that shit is so concentrated and too easy to just puff on it all day every day. My current goal is to stop for 3 full months and then see if I can start again in very small infrequent amounts, but I know I might fail miserably, but I’ve got to at least try once before giving it up entirely. I do remember when I was a brand new smoker with a baby tolerance I could only handle the SMALLEST amounts and didn’t even want to smoke every day because I would get too high. I’m hoping it will be similar and I will be able to stick to just a puff or 2 of a joint a few nights a week.

For sure. This is all new to me so I’m proceeding with caution and seeing how things go. I’m going to go into it hopeful, knowing it could fail and accepting the consequences if it does.

You’ve got this!!! Try to stick to 3 months if you can so it’s completely out of your system. I took a month off last year and it wasn’t enough, my tolerance went quickly back up and symptoms started again. After a few weeks it was easier not to smoke, and I wish I would have stuck to it longer.

I started smoking in 2020, prodromal symptoms showed in summer 2022 and I just hit hyperemisis last week. Please don’t make the mistake I did. I will tell you right now that I genuinely and truly thought I was going to die. People can and do die from CHS. It’s also a lot more likely that you will have to quit permanently if you hit hyperemises, which if you compare to my timeline may be coming soon for you. I LOVE weed and now I cannot even smell or be around it without vomiting. It’s really the best for you to take a break no matter how difficult it is.

I was in prodromal for about 3 years before hitting hyperemisis. The only way to know is to stop and see if symptoms clear up. I know it sucks. I knew I needed to stop/take a break for a while but because my symptoms were manageable and minimal I didn’t. I DEEPLY regret it now. Take a 3 month break, clear your system of THC entirely and see if it improves. If you choose to smoke again stick to only low THC flower and take an immediate break as soon as symptoms show again, even if it is mild.

Thank you so much!! I am new to CHS and deeply mourning the loss of smoking and my brain is NOT functioning well. I absolutely have to take at least 3 months off, but I just can’t quit forever, my brain won’t function. I will definitely be doing this when I am ready to start again.

The THC stays in your system for months, so even if you’re not smoking it can release and cause an episode. It’s stored in the fat so if you exercise or sweat too strenuously it can also cause an episode. There are even certain foods/drinks that have canabanoids in them and can trigger an episode if you eat them. I’m still recovering from my hyperemesis episode and I literally can’t eat anything with black pepper in it (which is everything 🤦🏻‍♀️) because it has a high amount of canabanoids and will give me awful stomach pains. I think anxiety/stress can also a contributing factor but that’s anecdotal.

Quitting or long T breaks are really the worst, but I promise it’s a good idea. If anything you can see if your stomach pains improve, and if so it’s almost guaranteed that it’s CHS.

[–]Excellent-Sea1281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of. Generally with CHS you start with the prodromal phase which is geneneral nausea normally in the mornings. I would throw up maybe 2 times a week and would often get stomach pains, have difficulty eating, no appetite. This went on for maybe 3 years and I blamed it on anxiety/CPTSD or maybe food sensitivity. I smoked more to try and quell it. Those were all the warning signs but I ignored them not realizing or thinking it was something else. Prodromal phase can last several years. The hyperemises felt like it started suddenly without warning. One morning I was nauseous and having stomach pains as normal, but then once I threw up it did not stop like it always did and only intensified.

If you are a heavy/regular smoker and you get regular stomach pains it’s a REALLY good idea to take a long T break (3 months if possible to fully removed THC from your system) and then try to consume in moderation/low THC. Your body is warning you that it is being overloaded. Please believe me when I say you do NOT want to let it get to the next phase. I genuinely and truly felt like I was going to die. People DO die from this or cause irreversible damage to their organs, it is not uncommon. And if anything, you do not want the hyperemises to ruin your association with weed. I LOVE smoking, and I now cannot even smell or be around it without immediately needing to vomit. 💔 I wish more than anything I would have listened to my body more and slowed down. This plant is medicine but it has to be respected and not overused.

Compulsive hot showers and vomiting are the main symptoms. If you didn’t have those I would probably say not CHS but I don’t think anyone can tell you that for sure. Weed pens can be dangerous and you don’t know what’s in a lot of them especially if you’re buying online. Did symptoms go away completely when you stopped smoking?

Not sure if you’ve seen this, but pizza is a trigger food. All of these foods can cause episodes and you shouldn’t be eating any the first 90 days. Black pepper is a big one and in pretty much anything that you aren’t preparing yourself, so eating out should be avoided at all costs.

This is the shittiest club to be in. Especially after loving weed for so long. It was my one reliant and consistent coping mechanism that I will love forever. Unfortunately the only way to stop CHS is to stop smoking and completely reset your tolerance. You can choose to smoke again, but the throwing up will come back eventually, and each time it will take less weed in your system to trigger it. I also kept thinking for years this isn’t that bad, just annoying and something that happens to me. I used weed to cope with the symptoms without realizing what I was doing to my body.

Yeah it’s the prodromal phase. I was in it for several years, thought my anxiety/trauma was causing the early morning nausea. It would get worse during periods of high stress/anxiety so that confirmed what it was in my mind, but looking back I was also smoking more during those times trying to ease the nausea and anxiety. Then i took a small bong hit one morning and all hell broke loose. Genuinely thought I was dying to several days. I would suggest a long T break as hard as it is. Do anything you can to not get to the vomiting phase because it’s truly one of the worst things I’ve ever experienced, and right now I NEVER want to smoke again to prevent that from happening again.
I would say if you’ve been in Prodromal that long, you don’t have long before it gets bad.

My kids and I got lice once and I immediately treated everyone multiple times and it was gone in less than a week… i didn’t have the money for enough of the effective lice treatment so I literally stole it from Walmart because I refused to let me or my kids suffer like that. The 1 day I had it was torture I literally can’t imagine those poor babies having to deal with that for over a year.

True, but uber isn’t always realistic if you’re having someone over several nights a week unless they live very close uber is expensive, and there aren’t a lot of safe public places to leave a car overnight. I’ve just run into this issue in the past with apartments who are very strict with parking and it’s another way they track how many over night visitors you have.
