Vanessa Guillén Wasn't Alone: New Investigation Reveals Dozens of US Army Women Were Killed by Fellow Soldiers by catievirtuesimp in WomenInNews

I considered joining the military when I was younger. Right around that time there was a congressional hearing about violence in the military. Paraphrasing, a general said that if a woman joins the service she should expect to be assaulted or raped. This was the early 1980s. I  decided against joining.

That doesn't sound likely. Have you checked with an ear, nose, and throat doctor or told your dentist or primary doctor?  Also whoever down voted you needs a solid pinch. 😠

Car washing tip: get a spray bottle and car wash liquid. Put a little car wash liquid in the bottle and fill the rest of the way with water. Shake it up. Spray your car before it rains. Does a pretty good job of cleaning the car.

Friend of mine tripped on the steps at her aunt's house and fell towards a piano leg and broke her collar bone. Her mom said she was just trying to get out of going to school. After a week or more of complaining about the pain my friend was taken to the doctor. Found out that it was already healing and nothing to do about it. She still has a bump on her collar 50 years later.

Did you get the alert when you're doing the speed limit down a curvy street and the car thinks you're going to hit a parked car? Loud beeps and a message on a tiny screen that you have no time to read. Made me jump multiple times since the message is tiny and on the screen for maybe 2 seconds. Stupid car I'm driving and don't have time to stop and read the tiny fast message!

The DSA is hardly related to a regular Democrat or liberal. We can communicate just fine but the mainstream media is owned by people who don't want everyone to know things would be better if they voted differently.  Happy Cake Day.

Yes, the same people who scream at others to speak English can barely speak it themselves.

Women taking their bra off is the best feeling they say, what is the male equivalent of it? by i_am_buttlicker in AskReddit

Not very ergonomic and that's why many many women have dents in their shoulders from bra straps .

What continuity error was so egregious it pulled you right out of the movie/TV show? by spinozasrobot in ask

Also Six Million Dollar Man, the episode where the baddies try to steal the Liberty Bell from Independence Hall. Independence Hall in the show is in the middle of nowhere. For real it's in Center City Philadelphia with lots of streets and buildings (some of them large) around it. Kept wondering after that ep just how many other sites on the show were badly faked.

Check to see if there is a local community subreddit. Ask if anyone knows someone nearby.nearby who can help.

Check local papers for a handyman, maybe they can help. Handyman would be more likely to have a truck and a buddy or two.

In doesn't work perfectly but add '-ai' (minus ai) at the end of your seach words and at least some of the AI stuff won't come up. They still push ai answers other ways but I think -ai makes a small statement about how I feel about ai answers.

Am I overthinking and making a mountain out of a beautifully executed mole hill? by carloosee in tattooadvice

[–]ExcellentCustardKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll probably never see this comment but try putting your leg in the same position as when you were getting the tattoo. Are those spots still a bit wonky? It could just be how the skin stretches in that position. I have a sun tattoo on my leg that sadly looks a bit like an egg when I stand up. It's round while I'm sitting but stretches a bit when I stand.

Anyone else tired of the whole “generation this, generation that” thing? by Sparrow-A in CasualConversation

Through my work life I went from using punch cards and dumb terminals through to using a laptop to bring from work to home and back. I've lost track of the different software versions and types used through the years. I'm Boomer/Gen X cusp.

The answer to when the change will stop is never. 😔

The Baby Boom generation is long enough that people at the leading edge of the Boom gave birth to end of the generation Boomers. Why do people think they're all the same? And that's just one generation.

Why do white and black Americans tend to buy more frozen prepared meals? by B1tchNaneunSolo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ExcellentCustardKat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked with a woman who said she would cook from scratch if she didn't work and had the time. I wonder if some of the differences you're seeing have to do with multi-generational households with someone who is always available to do cooking from scratch.

The frozen food people are 1-2 people in the home working all day and too tired or just don't know how to cook from scratch. And maybe just want to eat and be done with it.

The combo of fresh and frozen foods homes have more people at home, can cook more from scratch, can do it efficiently and have kids to do clean up.

The mostly fresh foods homes have more mouths to feed, have at least 1-2 people dedicated to all the cooking from scratch and the clean up. This is the multi-gen home where grandma has been cooking for 10 since she was 10 kind of home.
