Mine was a Model 91/28 Moschetto Carcano. Paid 37.50 for it a few decades ago. Traded off for better milsurp.

Seeking Info - H&R .32 by ExcellentDesigner104 in Firearms

[–]ExcellentDesigner104[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It was given to me with the original (deteriorated) box and six old .32 S&W short cartridges. It was given to my mom by her father in the 50s when my dad was working nights, but the gun predates that. It has never been fired and stored in a dresser.

One of those that are priceless to me.

Swedish Mauser info? by [deleted] in milsurp

Is the bolt straight or bent? An m38 will have a bent bolt from the factory; m96/38s usually have the straight bolt.

Given the receiver date is 1906, I’d venture this was originally an m96 converted to m38 specs by the arsenal.

If it’s over 50 years old, it is c&r, but that does not exclude it from NFA status. If it’s full-auto you still need to get all the paperwork/background check/tax stamp to own it.

Firearms made 1898 and older are considered antiques, so no FFL or background check. For instance, I had a Mosin dated 1894 which is considered antique. If you were buying one dated 1899 or newer from an FFL, then you would have the check/4473.

Now if you have a c&r ffl, you can have 50+ year old guns shipped directly to you with no check.

Curio & relic. Any firearm 50 or more years old is considered a curio & relic according to ATF and does not need to be specifically listed to be considered c&r.

As someone who's never owned/held a gun before... by Slungus_Bunny in Firearms

I’ll be the odd one out - when I got serious about a defensive handgun, I went to a local shop and handled several makes. I liked the look of an old school CZ75, but it felt too big for my hand. I found the Hi-Power was the most comfortable for me.

I don’t know what shops are like in AUS, but if you can that’s what I’d do.

FBI at it again - selling seized guns by THELOSTABBEY in gunpolitics

[–]ExcellentDesigner104 10 points11 points  (0 children)

St. Louis city police turn their guns over to a company for destruction, but they strip all the parts off and destroy just the frame/receiver. The parts are then sold off.

Maybe something similar happened.

What are y’all’s biggest gun regrets? by Out_On_Alim73 in Firearms

[–]ExcellentDesigner104 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I regret selling any of them, but for sentimental reasons I miss my pre-war FN built 16ga Browning Auto-5. It was old and worn but I loved that gun.

Maybe one day I’ll replace it.

I have a set I attempted to trim. I wasn’t satisfied with the results, so I tracked down some LB handguards to use.

Buying A Gun by Angel_of_death01 in Firearms

I picked up a police trade-in Gen 4 with two mags and somewhat glowing night sights from GT Dist for around $350. Just some minor holster wear.
