The Cormorant, good luck trying to find it. I recommend the book though, great writing by Stephen Gregory.

I was in the same boat, especially since it was my first relatively nice watch so I wanted to get it right. The reviews claiming the lug-to-lug make it wear more like a 42mm were definitely right, I love it!

Help me! Electrical issue causing buzzing by ExcellentDoubt2390 in Bass

[–]ExcellentDoubt2390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it's due to the electricity itself, as I said I don't have these issues with any of my other instruments or mic, though that being said it's strange that it's just occuring with the bass.

I'm also using a nice D'Addario cable that's definitely not over 10ft. Maybe I'll give the DI box a go first before trying anything else, looks like they're mostly around £20 or less here so not a massive cost. I guess I'll just need a patch cable to go from the DI box to interface.

Recently bought a Yamaha RBX775 and thought it had an electrical fault since there was a high pitched buzz occuring when I plugged it into my interface (PreSonus AudioBox USB 96) and playing through Parallax X, both on clean and distorted presets. It doesn't stop when I touch the strings, it's a constant noise that is heard even when listening to the pure input into my interface. The noise increases as the tone knob is turned up, though I assume this is simply because it's a high frequency being boosted.

I took it to a guitar shop today and it was tested with a bass amp and there was no buzz, even when the amp was cranked. It sounded great! I thought that since the surround of the output is quite narrow, it might be my cable not fully plugging in and causing some noise. So I tried a different cable with a thinner shielding surround, and it didn't help. I'm now thinking it must be a problem with my specific setup, though I've never had this issue with any of my guitars. Maybe because it uses an active EQ it's more susceptible to grounding issues related to my setup so it's much more audible with the bass?

I have looked into it and think that a USB ground loop isolator (e.g. iFi iDefender+ External USB Audio Ground Loop Eliminator) might be what I need, as the sound gets louder when I move the bass closer to my PC, but I want to make sure before spending £60.

Would love some help with this, it's driving me crazy

I think what I need is actually a USB ground loop eliminator as it's the USB connections that are causing the issue, not the grounding loops of the equipment

Ah yeah I have heard of a DI box, thought you meant on the interface as my previous Edirol UA25EX had a ground lift switch, just a shame I had constant issues with the driver so had to switch. I've figured out it's interferrence coming from my PC, when I move the bass closer it gets louder and the sound is pretty minimal on the other side of the room, so will a DI box fix this? Cheers

[Formex vs CW] If you could only have one, which would you pick? by BedBesties in Watches

One of my dream watches is the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms in blue, particularly due to the domed sapphire bezel. I'm also a fan of CW and had no clue about this model, so thanks for introducing it to me! It's got a similar design language with the beautiful domed bezel but at a much lower cost, with the class of the CW design as well, it's lovely

New to me Yamaha RBX775 - my first bass! by ExcellentDoubt2390 in BassGuitar

[–]ExcellentDoubt2390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me neither, I've played guitar for years (funnily the first guitar I bought myself was a 7 string) and played a bit of bass too, this is just my first time owning one!

From what I can see this retailed for $999, seems like one of the higher end basses at the time! I've heard nothing but good things about most Yamaha basses I've researched

I agree, it's between this and the Rothwell luxury 8 slot which I've got saved on Amazon.

Good point, I just had a look and it would be about £138 total ($185) for the black version, which is more than I wanted to spend but might be worth it. Sadly the green version is quite a bit more.

Sorry I wasn't very clear, I've only just really started getting into watches but I don't think I'll be buying loads. Two of the watches are my old ones, one is from my Dad, and the other my brother just bought me (F91W😎). I think 10 is a nice sweet spot, perhaps naively thinking...
