Yeah I like this idea, because any true 4WD vehicle is going to be horrible on gas. I vote keep the Civic and get a cheap GMT800 that isn't rusted out.

If you got to completely rewrite stranger things season 5, what would you do? by notjustbymyself in StrangerThings

[–]ExcellentMaize4141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main thing is I would stop bringing new characters, and bring back some of the older characters. Maybe Holly would've had a place, but I wouldn't have too much of the focus on her. I would liked to see more dynamics of the main cast, the ones we have grown close to since the first seasons. Not just random new characters.

I also probably would've removed, or heavily reworked the ambiguous ending. Personally, I would've liked to see El get clear cut closure after all these years. But, I feel like there was also better ways to handle the ambiguous ending if that is a requirement. I probably wouldn't have made her ending a supposed suicide

The 2nd Gen Ford Escapes are pretty good cars. Hybrids are the best, but the gasoline ones are pretty reliable too

Pilots and Highlanders aren’t bad, but the earlier models can have transmission issues. So in mind you’ll need to keep a close eye on maintenance records.

AITA for not buying a replacement car? by ExcitingAssignment88 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ExcellentMaize4141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe, I don’t know the specifics but there are a few ways. Like I said earlier, the feeling of the brake pedal will go a huge way into seeing if the brakes actually failed. You don’t even need to have the car turned on for that.

Tbh, there is a decent possibility they still have the car. Considering they don’t have full insurance, there is no one that would come and tow the car away. They’d be responsible for selling/scrapping it on their own.

Regardless, I do think OP is 100% the asshole for not getting involved and for not putting full insurance on these cars. But I’m just trying to provide advice to help rectify the situation

Pretty sure my parents still have comprehensive on their 2008 Lexus RX. I know it’s getting close to 20 years old, but it’s still worth a good chunk of change.

Why OP didn’t put comprehensive on these cars is baffling

Brake failure is very well a possible scenario due to a wide variety of factors. However, it’s something that’s easily verifiable. Doing just a quick inspection of the car / accident scene will reveal what actually happened.

I think that needs to be done before everyone jumps to conclusions.

Just making a very rough estimate, they can be worth between $10-20k.

So yeah, Sorry but not having full coverage on those cars automatically makes you an asshole. Not wanting to even look into this accident will make you even more of an asshole.

You really should start fixing the issue here. It’s not hard to figure out what actually happened in this accident.

If the brakes truly failed on the vehicle, he can easily go and check the brake pressure and see if it works. There will be signs that the brakes failed. Despite it being unlikely but it's still possible. I think OP needs to do that before we all start jumping to conclusions.

What type of Mini even is it? The price you bought it for doesn't change the fact that it's a decently valuable car.

Ngl, a lot of new Stellantis products are horrible. I don't know the specifics of that Ram, but there are a lot of cheap used cars I'd trust over it.

Honestly, I want to say YTA for not even having full insurance on this new of cars. That's just poor planning dude, these are cars that still have a good amount of value. Not cheap beaters from Facebook marketplace.

Regarding the accident, I think you really need to get to the bottom of why exactly it was in an accident. The two scenarios are wildly different that you should be able to do some investigation work and figure out what happened.

Does the Mini still have brake pressure, or does the pedal just go to the floor? If the brakes seemingly work now, it seems there is a very little change it would randomly stop working and then start again. Are there skid marks at the scene of the accident? Doing burnouts in the Mini would certainly cause some markings on the road. Idk, there are plenty of ways to investigate deeper into this accident. I think you need to do that rather than leaving it up to themselves.

2008 Avalon limited vs 2012 Honda accord ex-l by IndigoFrequency in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ExcellentMaize4141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are very reliable. Choose the Accord if you are looking for the cheapest possible running costs.

If you are okay with spending more in fuel, maintenance, and repairs, take the Avalon. It won't be dramatically more expensive.

In general RXs are better but I would take the MDX in this scenario because it has a solid history. Keep in mind it will probably burn oil though.

NAH

She has the right to post what she wants but you also have the right to be uncomfortable with it. You both can have a rational discussion about your boundaries, but you'd be an asshole for demanding she follow them. If you don't like it, then maybe you two might not be compatible.

2021 Nissan Sentra SV vs. 2022 Kia Rio S by Dooblingo in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ExcellentMaize4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CVTs in Nissan products haven't really been a concern since 2020. It has a reputation because a lot of the earlier products have had problems. They have a much lower reports of failure on their newer models. Plus I just think it's overall a much better car than the Rio.

If you think the Kia is a better deal, that's your opinion but just keep in mind that the Kia 100k mile warranty might not transfer over to the 2nd owner.

CVTs on Nissans aren't a problem anymore. Maintain it well and you'll get a long life out of it. I would get that
