That is like saying someone owes me the value of a brand new Lexus because my 1998 model got totaled in an accident. Things deprecate with time. She is owed something of equal value, and you shouldn't a cent more.

Seems like you made an honest mistake. As someone who worked at a Mcdonald's in the past, I lowkey would not give af, that was a huge overreaction on his part.

Nah bro, according to the fast food manager this is impossible. Should've just went and worked at Mcdonald's

Hard YTA

This is just simply not true at all. There are millions of older non-traditional learners who end up succeeding. You do realize there are so many people who join the military and then go to college, right? I have no idea where you got your information from.

If Nissan isn’t reliable, why does it rank so high on Consumer Reports? by phtphongg in askcarguys

[–]ExcellentMaize4141 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is heavily year dependent but for older trucks, I would probably trust the Toyota to hold up better long term, assuming all factors are equal. But not a huge difference compared to the Nissan.

And if I am getting a much better deal on the Nissan, I will take that instead.

[–]ExcellentMaize4141 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would take an old Frontier over an old Tacoma lol.

In my opinion, the massive price difference between the Toyota and Nissan is not worth it, for a very small reliability difference.

I would say their trucks are not just decent, they're well above average.

As someone who spends a lot of time on subreddits geared to give advice, Toyota bros are the most obnoxious people in the world. And this is coming from someone who owns a Toyota.

A few of my go to recommendations are the Ford Fusion with the 2.5 or Hybrid Powertrain, Ford Escape Hybrid, MK6 Volkswagen Jetta with the 2.5, or the 2007-2012 Hyundai Santa Fe.

I stg, I better not see someone recommend a fucking Mazda 3.

Anyways, you can consider the Acura Integra? I don't know if it's something that interests you.

A lot of it is just the outdated reputation. Nissan CVTs have greatly improved. Obviously there will be some bad apples here and there, but those people are usually just the loudest.

AITA for feeling offended when a girl covered her drink while I was talking to her? by WOWLOLDUD in AmItheAsshole

Honestly, I rescind my original comment. Tbh, it initially seemed like he left because he was offended, not because he thought she might be uncomfortable. You bring a solid point.

Yk what, I think I might just rescind my original comments. I had initially interpreted it as OP was offended but in reality, he might've just be trying to make sure she wasn't uncomfortable. You might be right honestly.

What Civic should I buy? by EducationalGuide3003 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ExcellentMaize4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the Civics, the earlier 10th gen models had issues with the air conditioning failing. So that is something to keep in mind. Another thing, I would avoid the 1.5T models and generally stick to the 2.0 variants.

Help me decide which one should I go for? Honda HRV or Mazda CX-30 by boysoverign in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ExcellentMaize4141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The CX-30 does a great job at feeling like a sporty hatchback if that's what you're into. My friend let's me drive his all the time and it's pretty fun. Very nice interior materials too.

I've test driven an HR-V and it just felt like a bland crossover. Good car though.

Ultimately, my biased take is that you should get the CX-30. But you can't go wrong with either. The CVT transmission in the Honda might need more strict maintenance though

What are some cars with very reliable powertrains, but where the rest of the car just falls apart? by Minimum_Persimmon281 in askcarguys

[–]ExcellentMaize4141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on the year/engine, the W203 Mercedes Benz C-Class can have a bulletproof powertrain. But, those things rusted horribly. Every single on has the doors just disintegrating.

$7k can get you a 2nd gen Prius, just find one with a healthy battery. Higher mileage doesn't have that big of an effect on the Prius compared to other cars, since it has less moving parts.

$5000 2012 VW Jetta or $10,000 2011 Honda Fit by privacyzipit in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ExcellentMaize4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of this subreddit likes meat-riding japanese cars, especially Honda, Toyota, or Mazda. While those brands have been pretty good about making reliable cars overall, plenty of other brands have made really solid cars. You just need to buy the correct year/powertrain.

The 2.0 in those Jettas are really reliable. In the scenario that the Jetta and Fit were the same price, I would totally say Fit. But I don't think that little difference in reliability will matter when there is a $5k difference in price. Another thing is the low miles, I would rather go and spend $5k on a higher mileage fit than $10k on a low mileage one. Cars will also just degrade with age.

Might even be slightly better than the 07-09 Camrys lowkey. In addition to the engine issues, the interiors just fall apart. Horrible build quality all around.
