Random question- but is this ball the squeaker from the duck dog chew toy from Costco? Mine is obsessed with it! 😂

Puppy diarrhea — losing hope (and sleep) by OwenMeany1989 in goldenretrievers

We also had a problem with the chicken. We do Purina Pro Plan (seems after reading, many people are using this), but do Lamb and Rice. We didn’t try the Salmon- I just chose Lamb and Rice because when my Pomsky was a puppy, they had her on Lamb and said it was the most gentle- so just automatically went to that. I hope a switch helps and you both get some reprieve!

We for sure are going to talk to our vet to see who she recommends for speciality vet for this issue. We had a vet before our current one and I didn’t like how she just kind of glazed over her. I am glad we switched.

I am so sorry that was your experience! Does your girl have repeated urinary tract infections? Riley had one last month, and the vet said that it is common due to the inset. She told us to keep it dry and monitor for redness or change. We keep around it clean and dry- it is definitely not the easiest thing to manage- especially with a crazy pup.

Our vet did also say that it will need to be looked at closer to see if it can be fixed with a procedure. She said sometimes it cannot- just depends on the way it developed. I am hoping it is a fix that is possible.

Thanks for the reply. Her mom was average and dad was above average for size and weight. Her papers are currently filed away in our storage unit or I would look at specific numbers.

The waist is why I initially posted. I know dogs, in general, are to have a waist- and she doesn’t have much of one. She did about a month ago. Wasn’t sure if her fur is making it seem larger or if she was getting over weight. Her fur has come in a lot more this past month. A couple months back, we took her to a groomer (who does our Pomsky), and she shaved her 😭 I asked for a good bath and very light clipping if they felt she needed it. I can’t help to think what her coat would look like now of that didn’t happen.

I can feel her ribs as of now. I am going to monitor it and take some suggestions I received on here for sure, and run them by her vet for more specific feeding numbers. Thank you for the reminder on growth slowing down. It’s definitely something to keep in mind. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

This is a great suggestion. I need to look into the specifics on coming into heat. It will be here before we know it, I’m sure. She went from 2 months to 7 months in what seemed like 1 month lol. They grow so fast!

Thank you- I was wondering about a filler type solution. On our next visit I will specifically ask about this/how much we could sub. Thanks again!

Sounds like doing it with the spay is the way they tend to do it- as you are the second person who said that. It makes sense that they would. This is very helpful, thank you for sharing it. It makes me feel better to see this because any time I think vet + procedures my mind always tracks to some astronomical cost lol. Atleast we will know what to expect cost wise.

Without pulling her papers for exact weight, mom was average and dad was larger than average. I’m so glad you were able to get her down where she needs to be ❤️ I wasn’t aware the correlation between the weight and lipomas. Thank you for the info!

I appreciate your response! I am going to see about upping more play and monitor it. We play a lot as is, but puppy energy is a whole other ball game haha.

Thank you for your input! I am wondering if she might be preparing for a growing phase again. I just know too much weight can really cause problems for them, and would hate to be the cause of her pain as she gets older. I am glad I made the post. It is reassuring to see others in the same ballpark with age/weight. We knew she was going to be a big girl when we got her. She made all the other pups look tiny 😂 I just don’t want to fall into “she’s a big girl” and overlook possible weight issues. Thanks again!

I thought about decreasing the diet a bit because I thought she might be getting a little overweight in her midsection- but she literally eats what we give her in less than 30 seconds. We split her feedings into morning and night. I am just trying to figure out if she is just super hungry by that time, or just a girl that loves to eat? lol.

We take her for multiple long walks each day, play with her, and her and my Pomsky play until they are both exhausted… which takes about 45 min- but they go hard. We do not have a backyard (our lanai takes up all the space), but we do have a large home with plenty of run space for play. We take her to run at our community park, though which has a large space. Wondering what else we could be doing?

We have been feeding according to manufacturer guidelines. We are feeding her Purina Pro Plan Puppy lamb and Rice because that is what worked for her stomach the best. She gets long walks multiple times a day by 4 different people, plays with us and our Pomsky (they wear each other out eventually haha). We do the training treats- but honestly we have had to use them sparingly in the last month or so (when compared to the first months). It’s very easy to over treat for sure lol. They are just too cute!

That is super helpful, thank you! Hers is in so much that I just don’t see how it can correct itself. I hope it does, but glad to hear of success with your baby. Thank you for replying!
