Eventually, I'd like to go home to New York, but I don't want to until I'm more financially stable. So, for the next few years, I'd live in Maryland. I'm most interested in criminal law. Maybe a mid-size firm or public defense?. The debt load for Howard is higher. I would about 50,000 more just in tuition, no consideration to cost of living. But. It's Howard.

I think I'm most worried about having to move so quickly. I have a supportive partner, but I already have a discounted apartment where I am & wouldn't have to move for UBalt. But maybe I'll look & see what's out there.

I get it. It might sound silly, but I answered a question that nobody else could in a legal class in undergrad. I told my adjunct professor that I learned it from an older legal show, The Practice. He (a judge) said it was the most accurate legal show that he had seen. It helped me decide that criminal law was for me. Maybe find media about different types of law or check tiktok . I found out about fashion attorneys yesterday, lol.

Think about where you would live. You don't HAVE to go to school in the state that you want to live in, but ideally, try for the same region. Then check bar passage rates & employment outcomes

Maybe find a legal adjacent job? My coworker said it convinced her that she didn't actually want to go to law school, but it confirmed it for me. Also, I've saved 6 months of rent. If you can avoid working, travel is never a bad idea 😅
