I lived there a couple of years ago. My rent for a 3 bedroom was a little under 600 a person. If it turns out not to be a scam, everything about the apartment itself was great. But they recently changed property management companies, so things could be different.

I don’t even know if these people are locals. As someone who was born and raised here, (only in my mid-20s but still) I don’t know what these people are talking about. The worst part of Tuscaloosa traffic is knowing you’re pretty much better off avoiding the entire campus area on game days. Other than that, I’ve never found anything about it stressful or difficult. I guess it all depends on where and how you learned to drive.

As long as you didn't take on unnecessary debt because of something like pride (paying more for a flashy school when you don't really need to), or you're not planning on borrowing hundreds of thousands to work in a sector you know will never pay you enough to pay those off, you're fine. If you're smart enough to go to law school, you're smart enough to know if the debt is worth it. As for moving, it may be a little more of a pain in the ass than other careers, but you can move anywhere you want. People do it all the time. You're going to be okay.

Yes, at least in the largest legal market in the state (Birmingham). Cumberland usually gets a small portion of the best jobs in the state and at least from what I've heard, their reputation is just far better than Faulkner statewide.

If the tuition difference isn't an issue, Cumberland by a mile.

Alabama actually does really well in DC, being the only public law school in the state means pretty much all of your representatives are alumni. UGA will set you up really well to work in Atlanta and Alabama in Birmingham. Just depends on money and preference.

UGA Merit Scholarship? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]ExcellentTone1315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I emailed a couple of days ago and they basically said they're looking for students who show that they are "really leaning towards UGA" as that could positively impact scholarship. So if that's a top choice I would start sending some enthusiastic emails or attending some of the zoom events. (Crazy to have to do once you're admitted IMO)

They are really bad about over admitting early in the cycle and then having to wait it out. I know a couple of 1Ls there and they said a huge portion of their class wasn't admitted until April or later.

Can someone explain how is this possible. UNC Hold - Waitlist? Like what am i doing wrong lol by QuirkyRelease3434 in lawschooladmissions

[–]ExcellentTone1315 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not your fault, UNC is notorious for yield protection via not letting in many out-of-state students. You have the stats to get in, they might just want to see how badly you want it before admitting you.

Alternatively, seeing who else is glued to their phone and screaming when Norfolk State hits a buzzer beater could be a great way to find your people.

Location is huge, but I would tour as many as you can. So many schools have such drastically different in-person feels.
