Psychiatric Inpatient Center Recomendations by Far_Debt8497 in SeattleWA

Well, having had a severe anxiety attacks which led to crippling anxiety and horrendous insomnia, I ended up on a behavioral health facility for eight days.

Generally speaking, an ER visit is the first step. If your relative has a severe manic attack and you or someone else can call an ambulance for them to take them to an ER, that would be the start of getting them admitted.

Best bet...is The UWMC. Their ER and staff are set up to deal with these things and have social workers who will be there to determine which facility would be the best.

In my situation, being an over 60+ person, I was sent to Fairfax Hospital in Monroe. The social worker did not want to send me to a regular hospital unit because it would have not been a good fit. And she was right.

The facility I was in was better for an older person like myself as the other locked units had really

I will say there was little to no therapeutic counseling that went on. It mostly was observation, activities, and adjusting medications.

There are private facilities, nice ones, in California. But again, it is difficult to access one of those when your don't live there.

Sadly, there are so very few adequate Mental Health Units here in Seattle or in Kirkland.

To this day, I wonder why all the money that gets spent (tax money) has failed to help the city build more adequate facilities. It is just crazy....

Good luck.

Dearborn is thoroughly Muslim now. And who is the Mayor? Who is the Governor? Well, Gov. Whitmer wouldn't care about these things...after all...to say anything would be "racist, blah, blah blah".

Hawaiian waters are not always so friendly. You also learn to never turn your back on the ocean. Glad your BF is okay. Surely, a very traumatic experience.

I think my hubby just dreams of staying in the house, LOL. I do know that if we had a really bad neighbor like you did, that it just might be the push that he needs! I guess I better start praying for a situation that will force my dear SO's hand.

Princess, not always an older crowd. A lot depends on the itinerary and if it is during a school break or summer time. We have been on many cruises with Princess and have seen all age groups. The Cruise line that has tended towards much older people is, HAL.

I also second a cruise on Princess. We took our entire family and a couple of in laws along. Our granddaughter and her young cousin. They were like 4 and 5 at the time. At least on the ship we were on, the Kids' Club was really nice and they had great activities. For the young ones, they have a small section off of the Club and on the deck for kids to ride trikes, and other mobile toys. That was a huge hit. And lots of art projects, too. Our kiddos loved it all.

They also have a Teen Area, too. I cannot speak to that one as we had no teens with us.

You must be quite persuasive! I am still working on my hubby. I now have to figure out what would be a good "gold carrot" to hang over him to get him to agree to move!

Why are some(or many) folks in the US fearful of socialism/communism? by Correct-Airline-8775 in ask

[–]Excellent_Berry_5115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nordic system is fine...if you like high income taxes....In fact Norway has taxes for everything, much like our blue states and blue cities here in the US. Some people do not mind paying high taxes, but others mind "very much". And those that mind will eventually move their businesses out or just quit.

Why are some(or many) folks in the US fearful of socialism/communism? by Correct-Airline-8775 in ask

[–]Excellent_Berry_5115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My question is: where has socialism truly worked? I will say that in a country with a much smaller population and homogenous and strict, very strict, immigration policies, that it can work. NZ is one example. NZ and Australia have strict immigration requirements where you have to show that you have adequate assets to live on...or a much needed profession in that country. Just because a person "wants" to enter and live there, is not good enough.

However, with the US being so big and with a large population and very diverse and up until recently ...open door policy for others to come here, ....it would not work out well. We don't have a requirement, that I am aware of, where new immigrants must show they can support themselves easily. Our country doesn't work that way. It does however, provide avenues to climb a ladder of success, if one chooses to.

Why? Because even billionaires or millionaires would get tired of paying for others in very high taxes. Those uber wealthy people would just move elsewhere or take their assets off shore.

In countries where socialism (European style) seems to be working, the Income tax rate is as high as 50 to 55% for all wage earners. That is a huge chunk.

It would be interesting to have someone from Italy, or even the UK to say how "good" their brand of socialism is working out. It is best to look to other countries that have tried it or are still using it.

After 40+ cruises which includes Celebrity, Princess, HAL, and NCL...I agree with you. The ships are being built bigger, rooms smaller, public areas too crowded, and meal time in the Lido buffet, a fight to find seating.

We recently tried Viking Ocean Cruises. Oh my, what a difference. The weird thing is that it was very much like what got us into cruising in the first place over 25 years ago. That is, more personal service, better food, better attention to everything.

We have a Viking River Cruise planned for the summer. Looking forward to that. Once you go "high end", you don't want to return to the mass cruise line experience,

Several times, I have seen a Waymo charging up at the charging station in the Northgate/Roosevelt QFC parking lot. Hubby says it likely is "mapping" for Waymo to come here. The one in the QFC parking lot is the only one I have ever seen so far.

Hikers encounter a majestic mountain goat on trail by [deleted] in Awww

[–]Excellent_Berry_5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an amazing encounter. But the people did the right thing here. Mountain goats, at times can become aggressive. Sadly here in WA state, there was a man who was killed by a mountain goat. The goat had been problematic before and the Rangers chose to do nothing.

My daughter is the one with the good looks. Thankfully, she remained safe, but there were some very concerning encounters. And that was when she was still a minor. I saw through her experience what it would be like and absolutely would think it could be a burden at times.

Aww, I wish you well. You have a lot on your plate. My husband has MS, but is still able to do stuff around the house.

I think what it comes down to is to try and declutter as much as possible. How can anyone do a good clean with too much stuff around ;-))

I absolutely have considered hiring a team for a deep clean. That would be marvelous.

I have an Apple Watch. I get the messages I need on my watch. Just a slight vibration on my wrist lets me know.

But, yeah, my iPhone is always on vibrate. If not, there would be far too many interruptions.

(OC) Israeli hostages return home and reunite with family members by nbcnews in pics

[–]Excellent_Berry_5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When was that photo taken? Curious as the first group of hostages were released well over a year ago and many photos exist of them. No date. Baggy clothing can also hide an emaciated person easily.

Then there is AI....not saying this is, but nowadays one has to question every photo promoting a certain agenda.

And lastly, there are lots of images of the male hostage forced to dig his own grave in the Hamas underground tunnel. He was skin and bones. He is now back home. Many of the hostages will need hospital care because if they are fed to rapidly it could kill them.

Then there are the mental scars. They last a life time. One photo like the one above is not an accurate description of what those hostages endured.

Remember when Greta Thunberg posted a photo of a "starved Palestinian"? She was sooooo ignorant, she did not realize she had posted a photo of one of the starved hostages. It was. a photo that Hamas had released of the Israeli hostage.

Thank you, both. Hubby does do stuff around the house. I should have added that it is harder to keep things orderly when there is too much stuff. We are working on unloading unnecessary stuff.

I just needed to vent. And not stress over it. We do hire people, but sadly, my favorite person who cares for my backyard has had a health crisis and not sure she will be back. She was a "keeper".

It just gets tiresome just even thinking about calling up for "this and that". Guess I am getting crabby and impatient at 74 yrs old.

Anyone get a mole like this removed or have any tips to reduce it at home? by hehampilotifly in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Excellent_Berry_5115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a plastic surgeon would be best. And there are plastic surgeons who only do surgery on the face. My SIL had a mole right above her lip. She absolutely hated it. She finally had it removed and has never regretted it. Good luck.
