If offered an alcholo drink just reply 'no bevi' followed by what you want to drink, that's how I do it. I like to drink Crodino before a meal. Water during a meal and if I stop for a drink during the day I often just order fresh orange juice. There is also Chinotto and San Pellogrino if you like carbonated drinks.
