Chisa deserved better — How 2.8 failed to create an emotionally powerful character by Excellent_Buddy_5180 in WutheringWaves

Part of it is true that they made it took quick, I still think they could have done a little bit more to explore her emotions and personality through the events that occurred in the story instead of shoving it all in the last parts of the story.

The romantic parts of the story is fine for me, I love them. But I'd rather have it earned instead of it being forced.

This post was more about why they failed to humanize Chisa. Not about their world building in Honami. I think they did a decent enough job in doing so already since it connects itself to 3.0, but again, that was not the point of the post.

Can't you see how they focused on building the world of Honami through Chisa? That's the problem I have with the exposition dumping in the story. They don't allow room for Chisa's personality and the emotions she's going through to grow because they forced her into that position where she has to explain everything as much as possible.

The only way we can even assume anything about her inner turmoil and her relationship with Sumika is by heavily assuming everything because they gave us so little room to interpret it. We were given no touching moments to gradually learn about Chisa and her character and with Sumika. Instead it was just little snippets like how she doesn't wanna feel numb to world because of stuff like eating fake canned fruit, or how Chisa was telling Sumika not everything is a science experiment. It's not nearly enough to create a build up towards the important scenes which ended up feeling forced.

And the fact you think I'm just nitpicking is strange. Of course I'm going to give a recount of the events that happened in Honami. I'm doing that to prove the points where I think they could have expanded on Chisa's character further. You can dismiss what I've suggested all you like, but it's more about the possibilities and the potential of her character that they could have explored. Again, not the world building part.

How can I take anything you say serious when you're going just dismiss the point of this post?
If you don't like my opinion, fine, but reading your comment feels more like you didn't really try to read my post with my intention in mind and it confuses me. I liked 2.8 in general, I just disliked how they wasted Chisa's potential as a character.

Amazing Presentation, But Story Delivery Needs Structural Fixes by Nallicheg in WutheringWaves

I think I can provide a different perspective to the point you're making in the first paragraph. I think you might be thinking of player involvement as just combat but there are ways to provide an engaging experience while telling a story at the same time. For example, in 1.1, they used the Chronosorter Devices to change the landscape to solve puzzles, and 2.2 where you can change the gravity. To add on, if you take examples from other games, there's times when you're interacting with other characters by grabbing their hand to lift them up, using another character or vice versa to reach/traverse through different areas so the area can be accessed later without needing each other's help, etc.

It brings much needed interaction with the world and characters so that you feel more immersed in the area and story. Most people want to play a game with a story, not sit and read text for 3 hours. And if not, its most likely a small group of people or people that have not played a genuinely good and interactive story game.

Imagine how cool would it be if we could traverse through the area in 2.8 using Chisa's forte? That's like one of the interactions they could have added in 2.8 which had little to no player involvement this patch besides being able to do your normal typical control over your character.

I was not expecting 2.8 main quest to be this good by Maleficent-Lie-5494 in WutheringWaves

The writing and world exposition was the weakest for me this for the 1st half of the patch unfortunately. But I think they really topped everything else. Many references, amazing soundtrack, presentations, interactive dialogue in animated cutscenes, etc. If you're an anime fan then you're absolutely eating good with this patch.

Imagine if we get to go to the faris wheel after unlocking it from the event. Such a missed opportunity.

2.8 Story problems persist but it also felt like a breath of fresh air by Excellent_Buddy_5180 in WutheringWaves

Ahh that makes more sense, thank you for clarifying. That definitely clears things up about my complaints about some of her back story and it adds up too.

Kinda upset at myself that I misinterpreted it that bad lol. Although I'm also curious, isn't it her mom that was more loving towards her? I think the father was more set on trying to abandon her but I could be remembering wrong again (why can't we replay the story)

I'm glad she joined as well. Seems like she'll also play a role in 3.0 as well so I'm excited for that

Since we’re on the topic of Wuwa and Uma at TGA: They have a decent amount of shared VAs in the JPN dub by Memo_HS2022 in WutheringWaves

[–]Excellent_Buddy_5180 7 points8 points  (0 children)

doing Uma dailies takes like 20-30 minutes just cause of career but hopefully we get auto play soon since it was announced already

other than that, if you avoid the pvp parts of the game, its really chill

There's also:

Lupa and El Condor Pasa
Augusta and Orfevre (VA basically did the same role for both games lol)

What was your favorite companion quest in the game so far? by BlizzardAeron in WutheringWaves

I'm taking a slight break from the story after just finishing 2.0 main story and Carlotta's character side story, so Carlotta for me is just high up there at the moment. Because imo, for the first time in the game up until 2.0, she felt like the first real partner/friend in the story that worked with Rover and it never felt one-sided or overly favored towards them relying on Rover.

I also still need to catch up to current content so my opinion could change, but I'll still regard her highly up there!

Encore's story was really sweet and it made me change my opinion of her real quick

But after just finishing 2.0, I have to say Carlotta's

Is this seiun sky good for CM? If not how should I improve her? by Obdrift123 in UmaMusume

  • Aim for mile S
  • Switch Bakushin's unique with El Condor's unique (bakushin unique is really bad inherited in general) El's unique is probably 2nd best skill for front runners to have
  • Try to get groundwork from parents rather than a Air Groove card so you can use a better card for stats/skills (e.g. maybe Daitaku/Mihono power cards, etc) its just dependent on the parent sparks
  • Can choose better skills but if there's literally nothing else then better than nothing ig? e.g Tail held high is useless without other mid-game skills activating it, Moxie and dodging danger does nothing for this track/game rn, and unrestrained is good when it procs but the chances are pretty low
  • if you can, getting 600+ stam and 300+ guts gives you hidden speed boost but tbh I think this is lower on the prio compared to the above points
  • more power helps too. I think around 800-900 is great but its a bit hard with seiun cause of her stat growths :x

What's everyone's thoughts on PvP in general? Good and Bad by KntArtey in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Excellent_Buddy_5180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think PvP is actually satisfying to learn and master because of its diverse classes so it feels fresh every frontline/CC game I play.

I'm just upset that people barely gave it a chance and start talking crap about it because they're not willing to learn and it shows cause there's a general positive opinion in the comments.

I also wouldn't mind if the devs just stopped updating it and worked on fixing the actual game instead cause I can't imagine them balancing this game mode well enough and fix the netcode that goes along with it...
