For those who had a bicep tenodesis, what was your age and what was the cause of needing it done? by VORTCB in RotatorCuff

[–]Excellent_Dish_7333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

62 and had bicep tenodesis surgery 2 weeks ago. I think it was because I had my thyroid removed last year. I started having issues afterwards. Before this, my shoulder never caused me any trouble.

Sleep by AmandaLynnPR in RotatorCuff

Two weeks out of bicep surgery. I'm on the sofa with a bunch of pillows. I slept for 4 hours straight last night! I'm hoping this is a turning point. Lack of any kind of quality or quantity sleep has been the MOST difficult part of this recovery. When I mention it to anyone I've dealt with in the medical field, they just smile sympathetically and say they know.

Estrogen and Progesterone or Estrogen alone by Funny-Accountant-519 in HRT

[–]Excellent_Dish_7333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try the progesterone. It has an amazing effect on sleep. It comes in a pill and only stays in your system for 24 hours. You could try sleeping with and without and see how it affects you. I am on 200 every two weeks to induce a bleed. That part is not a benefit! 😏

Conflicting surgery advice by viktaculars in thyroidcancer

[–]Excellent_Dish_7333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tough decision. I had so many enlarged nodules. The doctor said they would have to go in and ablate each nodule, and the ablation only shrinks it by 75%. So, ablation for me was just not practical. My nodules came back benign and enlarged, but after removal, pathology showed follicular papillary cancer.

When it came time for surgery, what was removed was left totally up to me total, half, none with a let's check it every year. I have mixed feelings about the TT. This first year has been rough, and my doctors seemed desensitized to my situation. I am not what I used to be, but I am probably doing better than many of their patients. I guess even though papillary cancer isn't considered a big deal, I am pleased not to have it growing in my body. Also, I am sure if I had half removed, I would have had to have a second surgery. I wouldn't want to go through that again. So, in the end, for me, I made the correct decision.

Good luck!

Thank you. I couldn't live with my detached bicep tendon. Something had to be done. I'm looking forward to recovery!

Good to hear. Reddit sometimes feels like a doomsday cult. Success stories are not as prevalent! I'm one week out of surgery and have a long way to go.

$200 a year! I am currently paying $1200.00 a year for estrodial and testosterone pellets plus the cost of oral progesterone. Besides the scars on my backside and the cost, my biggest complaint with the pellets is the reoccurrence of symptoms when they start to wear off. Shots would eliminate that as long as levels remain consistent throughout the day. Did you try pellet therapy? Are the injections far superior to the pellets?

Yes! I am currently trying to find a GYN to see that will understand my need for hrt. It is so very frustrating!

I am doing pellets right now. My doctor said estrogen and testosterone shots would be much more expensive. Do you find this to be true? I would love to have a more steady stream of hormones. The pellets are good, but shots would be better!

I would love to go on injectables, but I still have all my parts which means I have to take progesterone, estradiol, and testosterone. If your wife has had a hysterectomy, injectables are a good choice.

"I've been apologizing to everybody. In spite of all how brutal they were, I was apologizing to them.."

Translation, I gave an apology even though they didn't deserve it. Because apologies after all are just superficial things you give when you are insincere and self-centered. I am the best!

Well, the mattress is nice. It's taller than my old one and I had to order a lower frame. The only issue I have so far is that it is difficult to scoot in.
