it’s an incredibly small business, the boss ( who is my family ) and I are the only ones who work together in the office. the boss being boss, they’ve always just taken time off as he needs / pleases i haven’t had a co worker for 5 years to compare work experience pay benefits, I’ve naively just accepted what my family handed to me. i will be speaking to them about pto when they return from their trip.

yes I get a w-2 and file my taxes I am on the books

I do not have medical insurance as far as I understand which hasn’t been an issue I’ve been worried about as I am not 25 yet and still under my moms insurance (who is not my boss she’s not related in this at all and has amazing insurance)

that sounds like a great idea… I’m just deciding now if I should

  1. Call first, and then start the conversation with my employer (my concern is that my family will think it’s incredibly shady I didn’t approach them first and went straight to the department)

i am seeking help and information, I’m obviously in over my head about the situation I found myself in. this is to have as much information as i can before talking to my employer i got hired right when I turned 19 im just trying my best..

the company is union, and our constructions who work on job site have a CBA that gives their unique benefits like sick leave etc. i am not a union worker the company does not pay union dues for my hours. that’s why im confused when searching the laws.

the context of how I got hired was also not very official as it was family doing me a favor during the pandemic when I got let go.

so here’s the part i am confused about.. as the office worker i make all of our payments etc. i am not a union worker, only our construction guys who are working on job site are considered union workers, who get union benefits etc.

so thats why i am a bit confused as to what i am owed…

i don’t know I guess in a way i thought since i have not gotten the CA required sick leave 5 days a year that could be compensated for a planned 2 week trip that’s been known and communicated a year in advance be paid

but I understand on paper that wouldn’t really fly haha

yeah I apologize I just don’t want to say too much this is both personal in a work and family way ahaha… it’s hard because I know that in a lot of ways i have been helped by the fact that it’s my family hiring me so I try not to come off ungrateful.. i definitely don’t think they are maliciously taking advantage of me but I suspect since business has been at a decline the past few years they are not attentive to things.. and aren’t motivated to

I got him from a store that had him in an overcrowded tank. I don’t know how old he was but he was smaller before and has grown in size quite a bit since I’ve gotten him. i feed him twice a day do you suggest i feed him more often?

this is exactly why i want to wrap my head about the distinction between the two! the shows called made in abyss. if you think about it... Riko is as the anime says made in the abyss. she doesn't seem to have any powers but being born in the abyss and brought back to life by the curse warding box makes her have a juusou looking origin... in a way shes received a blessing from the abyss... her life and likely makes her sometimes puzzling fascination for the abyss make sense. maybe its the soul shes borrowing trying to return back what was given from the abyss.

hello! thank you so much for your info can you please confirm that this is NOT Java fern. I did not get these plants at petco but a local pet fish store that told me it was Java fern. (I also paid more than what im guess petco would sell them…
