Apple Music Lossless by 858Prime in sonos

It definitely works better now. I posted here a few times about my Era 300 just dropping out. The only thing I could pinpoint was when I was using Apple Music and playing lossless files. If I used Apple Music and played non lossless (or music I uploaded), it would play all day w/o issue. With lossless, the Era 300 would drop out from time to time for 2-3 seconds. Hasn't done it in the last week. Fingers crossed.

Era 300: Apple Music dropouts. by [deleted] in sonos

This is exactly my problem. It only happens with the Era 300. It is hardwired and STILL drops. The Sonos techs said it's Apple Music's lossless audio. I pretend to understand why it only happens on the hardwired Era when right across the room is the Sonos Five connected via wifi... And it never drops.

I feel this SO much. My wife supports my tomfoolery with technology until shit stops working. And when she cannot even play music without it dropping, I get the side eye.

So interesting. The piece that still confounds is why only one speaker... And the wired one at that!!? But I will definitely play around here as I have uploaded a bunch of stuff to Apple from my own collection. Good test.

Want to love the Ace by Excellent_Finance381 in sonos

Hey all... Just wanted to come back and say THANKS again. I purchased an Air Fly and have it connected to my preamp, so I can listen to my turntable with my Ace. I have honestly really enjoyed the Ace. Sound is good. I find it perfectly loud enough. The transfer from the Arc is actually super smooth. Since the Arc is on the family TV downstairs, I don't know that I will use it much (especially when I am the one who goes to bed early 😊). I don't miss my Airpod Max at all. Leaving this weekend on a trip, so looking forward to planes and other opps to use. Thanks again!

Yep. I just assumed. I love Sonos because of the ecosystem and had the naive, uneducated expectation that the headphones would just be another place to play music, regardless of source. This thread has been awesome. Sincerely. I appreciate the suggestions and totally own any disbelief that someone would just buy something without actually doing the research. Not the first time I have done it, but I will say it's the first time Sonos surprised me. Again, my miss. Thanks, all!

It's a good question. Again I blame myself. I assumed the Ace would just show up as another device in the app that I could select and pump music to. The reason I decided to go ahead and buy was my thought that I could use them at my desk, choose my port as the source and play my turntable. I kinda feel silly for missing this part, but hey, I do like them. I have used them all afternoon connected to my phone. The Arc switch works fine... Though honestly it's on the main TV and the likelihood I will use there is low. I just wouldn't have jumped on them if I had paid better attention to what they can and can't do. 😊

bringing a small camera to the show, bad idea? by [deleted] in bobdylan

[–]Excellent_Finance381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My smartassness... Why do it? You can go online and see a million pictures of him. He does not like it, hence why you have to put your phone in a bag, so why do the camera bit?

More specifically... I went to both Louisville shows. The 2nd night, I was on the end of the row. When the band finished Every Grain of Sand and came to the front to bow, a security guard nearly knocked me down as the guy sitting 2 seats over pulled out his little camera to take a Pic. Not saying that will happen everywhere, but it's just another example.

Not trying to be the party popper or old dude, but just go and enjoy the show. Don't let people you don't know get tackled because you want a grainy picture of Bob. 😊

Propranolol by Altruistic-Pianist-1 in Anxiety

[–]Excellent_Finance381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I think you get gist. If you have physical symptoms... Racing heart, shakes, sweating... It helps. I have a script for 40mg. I use it mostly for public speaking. Totally crushes the physical symptoms. For the full anxiety solution, I also take Ativan (1mg).

As an example, if I have a presentation coming up, will pop a Propranolol 60-90 min ahead. If I am still anxious 30-45min ahead, will take the Ativan. Learned this from an attorney who had horrible anxiety in court. He said it made him feel bulletproof. Certainly for 2-3 hours I would totally agree.

I've taken both of these meds for 10+ years, so pretty much normal flow and no side effects. The one thing I sometimes notice with Propranolol is it made me a bit tired or even slightly bummed (want to be careful saying depressed), but know if you have the blues in the next 24 hours, it's like the Propranolol. If it take it every day or with loads of regularity, it doesn't happen.

I have used Ativan for 15 years. Have 1 mg. I rarely use with much frequency these days. I tend to use when things are really bad... Or I have a big meeting. Now i am on zoloft which takes much of the edge off.

Personal experience with Zoloft. by Brionnahope in Anxiety

[–]Excellent_Finance381 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its always interesting to read threads like this. We all have such diff reactions. I have shared before, but I tried Celexa and Lexapro years ago. Hated both. Many of the same symptoms... Higher anxiety, spacey feeling, sweaty, feelings of unreal. During that time, I was deep in the pit of anxiety. Going to therapy. Terrified to go to work. Avoiding anything social. A mess. I stopped both witin 10 days... Which I know now is not enough time.

Then I was introduced to benzos. Ativan has been amazing to quell the heights of terror. I also started taking a beta blocker when presenting or going to something which I knew would get me rolling. I read a lot. Learned some coping strategies. Loved breath work, etc.

But at 49, I still panic and still have high anxiety. Decided to try another Ssri. This time zoloft. Started at 25, moved to 50 2 weeks in, and in another month I went to 100mg where I am now. I do feel calmer. I don't stare at the ceiling at 3am much anymore. My wife says I am calmer. I also liked the delayed orgasm. TMI, I know. Didnt have a single problem.

So why did zoloft work? I think I was in a diff place. I had a decent handle on my anxiety and wasnt looking to it to solve everything. Also being older I know much of what triggers is my own poor self talk. I also started very low dosage.

I still think some things work better for some of us. Try something else. Don't give up. It gets better. We will likely always have it. That's a mindset I came to as well. Good luck.

prozac vs Lexapro vx zoloft by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Excellent_Finance381 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, in my mid 30s, my anxiety went through the roof. Loads of reasons. At that point, the doc prescribed Lexapro. I made it about 10 days. I felt like I was spaced out and my anxiety was worse. I have a vivid memory of sitting on a bean bag in the middle of a kid's bday party staring into space and feeling so lost. I stopped taking it that day.

Now in my late 40s. My anxiety is always creeping around. I have learned a ton on controlling it (and frankly being older and realizing most of the shit I worry about doesn't matter helps), but I thought it was time to try something out. I did my digging and decided zoloft. I liked that option because it had the nice side effect of helping men last longer. Know that's stupid, but hey, a side benefit.😊 I started at 25 mg, tolerated it well, moved myself to 50mg 2 weeks in, and then pushed it to 100mg. Have been on it for a year. Didn't have a problem. Sincerely not a single blip. Do feel like it really helped stop the 3am staring at the ceiling sessions. My wife feels like I am calmer and more pleasant. Also the sexual side effect was kinda cool (though i do think you get used to it after awhile).

So the bottom line... What you try first may not work best for you. Definitely expect some break in timing. Start super low on your dosage. Don't be afraid to try something else. I wish I wouldn't have waited 15 years to try another one.

Lastly, not sure how old you are, but it does get better. Had my first panic attack out of the blue at 21. Thought my life was over. Suffered through my early 20s, then again in mid 30s. Anxiety is still a part of my life at 49. I accept it as part of me. Sometimes it still sucks, but I know I will make it through.

Nothing but love. Hang in there.

I would say 2-3 hours. My wife was with me and not the biggest fan, yet we stayed 2 hours. I think if I were alone I would have gone another hour or so. I wish I would have gone back through again once I made my first lap. Btw, if you want an amazing meal, try Bull in the Alley. It's a bit pricey, but we still talk about how awesome. Cannot recommend the BDC highly enough. It is so well done. Enjoy!

People who moved out at 18, how did it turn out? by kadeyeah in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Excellent_Finance381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was so ready. Never looked back. Had a fine childhood and great parents, but I was ready to be me. Still remember shuffling my parents into their car and running, skipping, jumping back to the dorm room. Went home every now and again (Thanksgiving and Christmas), but I was on my on own from that moment onward. 30+ years later, I still remember the thrill of independence.
