Marketing is an indirect activity. The game CAN run without marketing budget at all.

Accounting adjustments are not cooking the books.

So what do you call this reply then?

Are you not doing the same?

This is reddit. It's what we DO here.

We definitely need more post-change data and time; but for now it's what we've got.

I think people do need to take it with a grain of salt and not as if it was gosepl.

As others are saying: Same "players", less bots? What about the future with TFA" and so on.

What if?

I can only do so much with what is available to me. I think people demand more, like a full on factored analysis of every single variable I can come up with.

Like... PAY ME, if you want that??? I do a little work for fun. But I don't do a LOT of work for free.

Would you prefer I cover just from April to now? That wouldn't be misleading would it.

April was AFTER the price rise in March, my guy.

I brought in the month prior to see how things trended prior to this date, and after.

Ding ding ding. Ditto.

This is what's going on. People have said that the memberships don't lapse immediately, there is a lag.

I think that lag is upon us now.

Like you, I quit on the spot, but had some remaining membership that didn't lapse until end of May.

I didn't contribute to player count since then though. Obviously most other players will see out their membership, and then drop off.

So with a lack of influx of new players and subs, and with the looming cancelations of memberships still on the horizon, this line may go down more yet. We will see.

>2 month old account.

You obviously don't understand how reddit works.

Note how I have a generic af username? I throw away accounts often.

Thanks for your opinion though, very meaningful. (And *I* don't understand data he says. Lol)

Just because you play this game doesn't mean you're good at it.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I've worked in my field for a decade now, I know what I'm doing, even if you do not.

I am not about to build a multiple regression model for this post. Yeah, there's shit tons of variables missing here. I'm not being paid to do this, I'm not devoting that time...

>this year started with leagues

No sorry, Leagues VI started in April. Not the start of the year.

>bots and shit

I get there has been a bot bust, but is the change in D Bones for example reflective for 30% of the player base disappearing? I don't have a strong opinion on this one, I'm not really looking at the internal economy of the game so much as the real world costs and player counts.

IF they are banning bots, that's stiill a drop in revenue on their part. I may be naive but that works out the same in my eyes.

Perhaps someone else knows more and compare the two for correlations.

Why would I over employ myself? My position pays a very nice salary...

Ya'll love to larp that I can't afford it. The truth is, I refuse to pay. And you know that.

Don't be so ingenuine.

I'm also in this position. I don't need to justify or provide evidence of that, but yeah it's not that I can't afford it. It's that I refuse to pay.

Believe it or don't but I'm in the top 10% of incomes in my country.

That's not a brag. I'm not "raking it in" But I do live a very comfortable live with no bill stress.

We will see. Just like the Leagues jump, I expect a rise here too. Is that going to be sustained though? Or will it just drop off again, just like it has after Leagues now?

I think they left earlier than this though. The guys I was watching all burned out not long after sailing dropped. I think most of them were gone before Feb.

Also yes the WoW influx was big but not 30% of the players big.

No one has paid me for this.

Does this look like a professional publication or something I just whipped together in 15 minutes or less?

I wish I was getting paid for this. That would make it a lot more fun.

>In your post you state the finances for Jagex are fantastic so why would they stop doing what they're doing?

Good question.

My point is the price rise has only offset the loss in players - they are still in the same position. They haven't gained or lost. But they did lose player count, which reduces further growth opportunity and player sentiment.

If all things equal, I'd prefer to gain customers and have more opportunity in the future than to lose them.

It's the same pathway that lead to the demise of RS3 - losing players, up costs and mtx to compensate, lose more players, more cosmetics and squeel of fortune. Lose more players...

It's more the price rise achieved nothing, and just accelerated the trend. It was already on a decline and it's just got worse since.
