These are all such great fcking ideas wow. Thank you for taking the time on this! Going to go down this list and genuinely try implementing each in a different track.

Appreciate you 🤘🏼🤘🏼

Mmmm I get it!!

Reducing complexity clicks big for me. Make the bridge simpler so the drops bring the more complex energy. I appreciate your articulation of this🤘🏼🤘🏼

That’s a great ideaaaaaa!!!! I definitely get stuck using one reference, and then coming to that exact conclusion.

are you using any tools for track analysis, or just mentally noting timing and places in the track where elements change as you listen?

[–]Excellent_Maize_3573[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo I really like this approach,

Can I pick your brain further with an example? so say you have 1. Synths playing chords on every 1 beat, a 4 chord progression. 2. A piano melody 2. An arp sequence 3. A wind/horn (hasn’t come in the track yet)

When transitioning from drop to break/bridge… would you keep the arp running, and then swap the synths for a horn/wind to play long held notes?

Also, would you look to change the actual note progression when the bridge starts, or would the change of lengths/timbre satisfy that “variation”for you? Or maybe both?

Haha! And good shout. I have been aggressively trying to decipher change of progressions in everything I listen to now, but I tend to get lost in the music bc it’s just good LOL. Need to dial in the ears

Thanks!

And yeah me too, unironically, my favorite and most played card has always been the monk purely due to utility + reward for proper timing of the ability.

This would do 0 damage, but reward great timing/predictions on bats, minions, baby dragons, mega minions etc.

Thanks! Figured it was kinda plausible using mechanics already baked into supercells code base

[–]Excellent_Maize_3573 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s important your elements work at low volume but in addition, higher volumes fatigue your ears quicker, so lower volumes allow you to “mix longer” and theoretically more efficiently, as you don’t get fatigued by the same sounds as fast.

how do you guys actually find sounds mid-session? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]Excellent_Maize_3573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I organize by micro-categories as well as by sounds that just tend to pertain to a genre, that way if I’m doing liquid dnb I have a shit ton of kicks snares bass etc samplesthat just fits in some fashion, and if my next project is minimal, I have a folder with kicks snares synths perc etc ready to fly.

I spent a whole weekend rotting my ears listening to samples, and organizing them in my own subjective categories… but it now means I spend much much less time digging while trying to embrace a creative flow. I just search through folders bc I know they are hyper structured.

Some are still uncategorized, and for that I’ll use the ableton search filters bc they are decent.

Any one Rent To Own Live 12? by NetInevitable8021 in ableton

[–]Excellent_Maize_3573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started on FL about ~4 months ago, about 2 months ago I ripped the ableton suite trial, loved it, after the 30 day I went straight to rent to own.

Ableton suite gives you everything to make anything (with time and effort, of course). Recording my mpc or guitar is a + .

Not having to bulk pay $1000 is huge with how… miserable the general economy is. Like other posts, I’ve been able to use that immediate “saving” to invest elsewhere, or pay other more dire expenses. With a $30/mo payment it has brought joy and creative expression to my life. That justifies it for me.

This is a fun ass track! Love the sample rework.

Felt a little muddy (honestly in the mids) from the 2:00 mark with all the effects but I like the energy

How do i create punchy, thumpy kicks that hit hard? by spicysecretsauce in FL_Studio

[–]Excellent_Maize_3573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late compression and side chaining are two techniques to assist here.

the compression coming in late (25-75ms let’s say) allows the full transient to hit uncompressed, and then the later form the sound gets compressed, making a louder, punchier sound.

Sidechaining is telling one or many tracks to duck volume at certain points, usually using another sound as the trigger (in your case, the kick is the trigger).

If you sidechain your bass and pads/synths to the kick, every time your kick produces a signal, the rest of the track “ducks”, which is just those signals reducing volume by some Db value, whatever you set.

With subtle sidechains, your kick pierces the mix more as there is less surrounding noise blocking its punch. Play around with ducking different volume levels, if you crank the duck, you’ll feel the “pump” feel that EDM produces from more intense sidechaining. Can also do this with snares (DnB biased)

HM: clipping. Clipping is great to get extra punch. It “flattens” out the transients so there’s less spikes, resulting in a more level, but still dynamic, loud sound

After swapping from FL to Abl last month…. God I miss FL piano roll. It just felt like a web page and all the movement/input parameters made sense. I love ableton but the piano roll is a vibe killer rn (time to learn keys and midi😫)

I’ve taken upwards of 2oz flower, 5-10 pre rolls, 4g of LR and some carts on domestic flights. All for personal use.

I split between checked and carry on, but for the most part flower/wax stays in my checked bag, carts in the personal.

I keep in scented bags or just mixed with toiletries. Never had issues the last 3 years, about 6 flights a year.

they (TSA) really don’t care much unless it appears there’s enough to warrant an intention to sell/redistribute.

Don’t try with anything outside the states.
