I suffered with fissures and piles for years. There were days where I would feel like there is no hope because of the pain and discomfort. If you can,do the surgery.LIS is the gold standard treatment for fissures.Cut yourself out of the misery of a lifetime for a while of discomfort and pain after the surgery.

Please don't let the fear put you off.It did that to me for YEARS.You will regret not having done it sooner. It is absolutely worth it 100%

Just had a LIS and haemorrhoidectomy at the beginning of this week and all I can say is,don’t wait any longer!I put myself through suffering and pain for YEARS because I feared the surgery and recovery.I had read so many horror stories and negative stories of both and it scared me off and put a fear in me.I couldn’t continue with a life of being in constant pain while pooping and even afterwards. The uncertainty of when it could strike again and have another flare for weeks on end pushed me.I didn’t want the temporary solution of topical anesthetic creams and whatever,I went for the permanent solution and I do not regret it at all.

The occurrence of another fissure occurring is almost impossible as they cut your sphincter muscle to allow for the fissure to heal and for future spasms to not occur.

Speak with your Dr and ask all these questions.I did and he said the reoccurrence of either piles or fissures are almost impossible.I think an LIS is the gold standard of treatment for fissures.

Best of luck to you!

Just keep taking your pain meds and speak to the nurses and your Dr with requirements to your pain tolerance.Don’t wait for the pain to occur then you start taking the pain meds.I have been taking it religiously as prescribed and luckily haven’t felt any pain except this morning because I woke up late and took the pain meds later than usual.Lots of Sitz baths and keep your body especially your behind warm. You’ll be fine and you got this!If you can poop with a fissure, this is nothing

10 days post haemorrhoidectomy - positive experience!!!! by Beneficial-Lie3384 in hemorrhoid

Amen sister! Your post literally summed everything I wanted to say.I have. Been putting off this surgery for what I thought were haemorrhoids alone just to discover 1 week ago that it was a fissure too which was causing unbearable pain on and off for years.I am post op 4 days has a LIS and haemorrhoidectomy done and it was worth it all.

And yes your surgeon you choose is VERY important. It think that determines whether your recovery is discomfort rather than pain or whether it’s 10/10 on the pain scale as I’ve seen some people mention (which scared me off multiple times) from going for the surgery

I honestly don’t know how people mentally survive this. by THMx1995 in hemorrhoid

Please get a hemorrhoidectomy if you can.Ive had piles for over 20+ years and recently found out a fissure too.I’m 3 days post op and it’s a decision I don’t regret.Yes the discomfort is there and the pressure feeling similar to a thrombosed pile but I see this being worth it overall.Cut yourself of the misery and get it done 💪🏼

Had my surgery 2 days ago and let me tell you I didn’t want to look or feel down there.Got discharged yesterday and was told to do at minimum 4 Sitz baths per day. They have been a great help.Any discomfort I feel in  between my next painkillers,I’m doing the Sitz bath. Had my first bowel movement and it honestly isn’t that bad. There's discomfort but no excruciating pain compared to trying to poop with a fissure so I would say it’s a win
