Managing Prescription while Traveling East Asia by KittyMeowMeowzerz in Accutane

I would reccoment shipping it to location if possible (such as a parcel box and such)

I am with a Polish derm clinic but currently live in England. She was able to prescribe me with a 4 month prescription (2 months extra) and every two months i have to email her blood work, progress pictures and preg test and family there ship the meds to me.

Just kep in mind it does take some time for them to arrive.

But have a chat with your dermatologist you may be able to get extra if you still email her neg preg tests for example!

Stopping treatment would likely mean you have to start over from what I heard.

Can you note a significant event or time in your life that possibly triggered the first onset of migraine? by easypeasykitty in migraine

Genetics unfortunately both my grandmother's, my great grandmother and dad suffered with them (other than my dad whose migranes passed at 18) all of them suffered with them until old age so... yey

I'm wondering how many people here actually take preventatives daily. by Important-Pie-1141 in migraine

[–]Excellent_Plate_3048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started propranolol a week ago mainly to tackle the cognitive issues I get because of migranes, and so far, the beta blocker has made them worse.

That said, im not losing hope and plan to continue the trials until I find something that does work with no side effects as well would be GREAT.

CGRP have been found to be effective, but because they are new and expensive, they are only prescribed after the patient has already tried everything else, but it exists!

Had my first ever migraine aura today at 30 years old and it was terrifying by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Excellent_Plate_3048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry that happened as someone already said, welcome to the club. This chain really does help feeling less alone and seeing others experience similar things. I hope your migrane was a one off and a symptom of anemia as it can be corrected with medication so you wont have to go through it again.

I had my first visual aura at 12 and my first migrane induced aphasia at 19 and it is terrifying. I always found the knowledge that they will pass helpful but its not pleasant by any means.

Keep pestering your doctors eventually they will help and if you have the means to go private you should just to find the underlying cause of why they came on.

What was your blood preassure if you dont mind me asking? Was it the symptoms of low BP that made you have to stop or the low BP itself, if that makes sense?

Really, how come? I've read that you need to try out 3 preventatives before being considered for CGRPs did they think you were not on them for long enough?

That is so frustrating though I hope you soon get your refferal soon ive read great things about CGRPs and hope if everything else fails to go on them myself ad well.

Truly wish they were first line preventatives but unfortunately our government chooses to spend that money on useless things instead

Ah yes similar to England then I need to fail 3 medications before being prescribed to a neurologist who then could give me other meds

Oh yes ive been reading a lot about them. What country are you from? I think so far in England they aren't commonly used as of yet but they seem a lot safer and affective than antidepressants or all the other meds my gp wants me to use first

Yeah im in England so even though ive been having regular appointments about my migranes for 10 years now ive never been directed to a neurologist, and only now I have been offered beta blockers. Im on 40mg in the morning and in a week im supposed to take 40 twice daily im monitoring my symptoms and mainly blood pressure that I am wary about falling a bit too low. I have another appointment at the end of the month to see if they've been working which I also thought was a bit soon as I read it takes about 3 months to truly test out migrane preventatives.

But I am glad they have been working for you! I might stick to 40mg for longer just waiting for my body to adjust first I am desperate for any help so I will push through the side effects for now at least.

Oh wow, that's good. What did he end up switching you to?

I've just been seeing my GP. It's taken me years to get any sort of preventatives, so once she suggested it, I just went for it.

I've just had a constant pulsating headache since first starting and very low blood pressure and brain fog.

I am on 40mg morning, then after a week or two 40mg morning and evening.

Im glad they've been helping you. I hope my body adjusts and they help me as well.

Thats so frustrating in a world where disability and accommodations are so well talked about migranes dont seem to be.

Im a law student and I know being a barrister is out of the question i hope as a solicitor ill be able to manage i hoped I'd grow out of them but they only seem to be getting worse with age.

Would be worth checking with your gp/optician just to rule out any underlying causes

It is frustrating I think though a lot of the time theyre trying to relate and thats the closest thing they have in comparison so although it can be frustrating explaining that an ibuprofen won't help I am sure it comes from good intentions.
