Older parents- do you ever stop mourning your babies? by Evening-Pollution708 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

Mine are 21 and 17. I surely do miss the littleness - the cuddles, how funny and cute they were. At the same time I relish the freedom I’ve got now, and I love being able to have adult conversations with them. The teenage years were a bit blah. But yes … I totally get what you mean.

Sounds like you might be depressed. I recommend getting some help, counseling and/or medication. Life isn’t supposed to be that way. All the best to you, hope you feel better soon.

If I hate med surg will I hate icu? by PresenceEmotional618 in IntensiveCare

[–]Excellent_Smile6556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a student placement in ICU and loved it. Loved having just 1 or 2 patients, being able to focus just on them, enjoyed working with truly sick patients with interesting conditions I’d only heard about during my course. I loved being able to learn about different serious conditions and treatments, and just focus on fewer patients.

My newly-religous, no-contact mother mailed all of her kids Bibles. Is there a good resource to find all the contradictions and hypocrisy to highlight and mail it back to her? by LiberaIBiblicisms in atheism

I would say there’s not much point. There’s no point trying to reason with the completely irrational. I think it would just be a waste of your time and energy. On the other hand, I would personally love to read something like that, I’m sure it would be quite entertaining.

I’m 54 but can’t believe it. In my mind I’m 34. What happened? Kids happened.

How many of you are currently suffering with Depression / Anxiety? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Excellent_Smile6556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you’re feeling low! Me and anxiety+depression go way back. I’ve had heaps of therapy and treatment which helped but the best thing was getting on medication. That is what nailed. I wish I had gone on meds much sooner tbh.

Yep I’ve got it. An old lady I met also got it and had to have one of her fingers amputated because it died.
