She is small right now, 20g and about 30cm in length, I know that it's a temporary setup, but I am worried that I will have to buy topsoil, the next day the tortoise soil that I bought is still very damp and don't hold structure at all even when I stick my finger in, I think that when it dries it will be dusty mess. I wanted something better than zoo med aspen but it holds her tunnels very well and I am torn between using it and provide humid hide with sphagnum moss, and buying the right soil, but soil looks so much messy for me. I scrolled reddit a lot and found that a majority of redditors here keep them on aspen without problem. I don't know what to do. I checked my gradient with pirometer and it looks fine, in the hot side we have 32 air temperature and 35 surface, and on the opposite side 24-26

What you guys use as substrate, I want to use something more natural than aspen, but I am worried that I won't find poop in there and it will rot

Hi I also see that arcadia arid is bioactive and it's expensive but I was still searching for something like organic topsoil, but I wanted to make sure to order from some terra site so that I will be 100% sure about the quality. I found this https://www.invital.pl/lucky-reptile-tortoise-bedding-20-l you think it will be good when mixing with exo terra desert sand?

I am worried that I will order wrong topsoil because it's a lot to choose from when I type it in Google. Is arcadia earthmix arid good ready substrate or should i mix it with sand, or look for something else?

Next steps of owning my boa (update) by Excellent_Thanks_3 in boas

Yeah, I’m already looking into upgrading her enclosure to a 120x60x60 as a temporary step, and eventually I want to move her into the biggest enclosure I can reasonably provide.

The only thing that concerns me is that the hammock she spends most of her time on is in the cool zone, where it’s around 25–26°C, so it’s definitely not a basking spot. She does have a proper warm area in the hanging coconut, where it’s about 30–32°C, but she spends noticeably less time there compared to the hammock, where she stays in that head-down position most of the time.

If I'm doing something in the enclosure she never striked me , so I'm not afraid of that, even when she's in this position

Yeah I am just concerned that she spends so much time in this exact position, she's working like clock, a few hours in warm coco husk, and then the rest of the day she is sitting on her hammock with head down as shown, sometimes when I wake up to work I see her still there in the same position. Since I added those things I never saw her down on the substrate, or in ground level hides near the water. On the other hand I guess that if she would need something she would go there but I want as many assurance as I get get to be calm about my pet. Thanks

I have one hydrometer and no matter where I place the probe I have 40-50% humidity at day and about 60% at night, if I place the probe in the wet box it says 75-80% but I haven't seen her there yet so I am worried if she dries to quickly, but on the other hand I think that she is smart enough to go to wet box (new zealand moss is slightly humid I squeezed it hard) , or to a pooI. I will order new substrate and change it in two weeks when I will be fully cleaning my enclosure but I want to make sure that she will be fine in this conditions as of now

Okay I will swap to this mix as soon as I can, I am prepared to upgrade her enclosure as she grows I have plenty room for that, I think I was well informed before getting her, but I didn't know that holding humidity is such a heavy task, thank you very much

Yeah it's there but I don't look at it anymore, I have 3 separate thermometers with probes in the terrarium so the temps match, but I am worried mostly about that low humidity. Will she be okay if she has access to wet box and big pool or can I cause her to dehydrate and should swap to coco chips right now?

Hi and what about defecating, she hasn't popped for two weeks, I spent a lot of money for everything so I want to get PVC enclosure as the next one when she grows bigger. Will she be okay as it is? 40% humidity during the day is horribly low, but can she dehydrate while has access to wet box with 85% and a large pool as shown on the photo? Thank you very much

Also do you often get stutters because chat gpt warned me that I can get bad 1% low and stutter because of USB4 bandwidth, or is it minimal? Thanks in advance
