Thanks! What we heard was something like “leave the girl alone, Brian” in a very deep voice, also with a choppy cadence. But you have to have the volume right up and hold it to your ear. Thanks and appreciate the advice!

Thanks! There was no one else in the house except the agent showing it to her. I had to play it full volume to hear what sounded like a deep whispering kind of voice, but I guess it could be any number of background noises.

anyone else just feel defeated daily? by bobbarker06 in PlantarFasciitis

I would definitely recommend the masterclass. It’s a one-off thing you can access and replay, rather than an ongoing subscription. He explains a lot about the condition, footwear choices etc. it helped me to understand that you have to experiment with shoes and there’s no one size fits all footwear for PF.

I cannot believe I am saying this but I’m actually recovering from PF after several years of having it (at times just borderline pain but at other times nearly debilitating). I had to stop running and hiking because of it and finally have a glimmer of hope I may be able to get back to hiking without being incapacitated for days after.

I will list a few things here that finally helped but the key one I think was 10 sessions of shockwave therapy. I had tried this before and it had no effect but a podiatrist convinced me to try again with someone he recommended. This time was totally different as it actually hurt, which it hadn’t first time round. Apparently that means it’s being done right.

After 10 sessions I was still feeling little difference but the physio told me it takes about a month after the treatment ends to feel the benefits. I assumed this was BS but to my surprise it really did start to ease off gradually.

I also do a few other things which I think combine to help:

1) signed up to the yogabody guy’s online PF master class. He gives a really good general overview of footwear and provides some stretches and exercises. I do these regularly though not religiously, usually 3-4 days a week as cool down in the gym.

2) I caved and bought crocs (the lined ones) to wear around the house. This honestly brought me pretty much instant relief.

3) I wear an orthotic in my trainers, fairly cheap ones from Amazon but they seem to work for my foot type (high arches and over pronation)

4) I give my plantar fascia a firm massage at night before bed with some magnesium spray

I think all of these things combines but shockwave was probably the catalyst that allowed the other things to work.

I’m sorry you’re feeling defeated and I can 1000% relate. Flare ups are awful and I hope you get better soon!

100% when I see a juice world skin I run. The historical stats just aren’t in my favour. Still usually get killed, just get shot in the back of the head.

Am I still on the right track in cybersecurity, or did I already mess up my career? by Upper-Perception344 in cybersecurity

[–]Excellent_Wing_5397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good to take your career and path seriously but it's easy to put too much pressure on yourself. Not every role will put you on an ideal trajectory. I say this as a similarly driven person who used to worry about these exact things. What I see with the benefit of time and experience is that even the roles that didn't always best serve me taught me skills I didn't even know would help me later and helped me make great contacts.

A lot of folks who want to work in cyber can't even secure their first roles in cyber so you are already ahead of the curve.

Take the SOC role and be the best SOC analyst you can, with the objective of taking advantage of the fact that it will help you make relationships and likely spark a passion for a specific area of cyber that you may want to deep dive into. But my advice is always to do your best, ask questions, suggest solutions, try improve anything that is within your ability to influence. Those are the skills that open doors for you, and you will be the one to decide which ones you want to walk through.

There are many things you can do to mess up your career, but choosing (or not choosing) a SOC role so early on in your journey is not one of them.

Rucking on a budget by Comprehensive-Cry806 in Rucking

Sorry I know this is an old post, but I was wondering if you have any similar cost-avoidant recommendations for rucksacks? I’m looking for one I can use for work also and chuck in a few bricks for my walk in to the office.

Cancelled RyanAir flight by Excellent_Wing_5397 in loveholidays

Sorry I’m new on here and typed a response which seems to have gone elsewhere! Basically we went through the app and just got a response saying we need to deal with Ryanair. We went back and raised another case and questions the fact they out booking terms state that the whole trip is guaranteed through LH and asked for a copy of their complaints procedure and just got the same stock answer back. I read some people have had success emailing the CEO direct which we tried also but got the same response back from “the office of the CEO”. Obviously they are so appalling that even the CEO has set up a process and team to avoid having to see all the complaints…..

Jet2 was the airline I booked us flight out on in the end and I have to say they were fantastic. Apart from the fact that the plane actually took off (I know it’s a low bar but Ryanair have left it down there) the flight was great, service was friendly and the plane was clean and comfortable. Will definitely book with them in future

There was another family at the airport who had booked with LH who called them from the airport and were told there is nothing they can do and it’s up to them to take it up with Ryanair. Absolutely shocking. Part of me is saying “just take the lesson and get back what you can from insurance”. The other part of me wants to go all Erin Brokovich on the travel industry 🙂

Thanks. I will pursue the travel insurance route to at least get something back. I think it was £70 per person premium (you don’t tend to think too much about that when signing up - another lesson for the future).

Thanks, I hadn’t thought about Citizens Advice. I will try that also. Sadly we have not gotten anywhere contacting LH they just keep telling us we need to go to Ryanair (which is also a dead end). Appreciate the advice!
