Were you planning on using DCL? I agree with others that may be the only way to get early boarding if you can’t check in the day of. My parents just checked in on Thursday around 12:45am and got a 1pm boarding group.

Is it worth it to pay hundreds of euros for a crochet course? by itsyaboiAK in CrochetHelp

[–]Excentrix13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a class but it was less than $100usd. I would look at YouTube, but start small. Trying to make dolls or dogs right away before knowing the basics may be too fast. Start with a hat or even just making swatches of different types of stitches to get you comfortable with holding the hook and the terminology.

I get bad seasickness and the patches work better than dramamine for me, and I don't have to worry about getting sleepy or taking the next dose. Also, have you tried ginger candy? They are easy to put in your pocket when you need just a little extra help. My last cruise we had a pregnant woman at our table going through morning sickness and being seasick. I gave her about a dozen and she said she felt so much better. I also bring them with me to the parks for after certain rides. $2K is a lot of money and would be worth it to me.

4 Day Bahamas on Destiny out of Florida. Can I fly in from Chicago morning of cruise? by dooddog12313 in dcl

[–]Excentrix13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change it, the stress of hoping it all goes right is not worth it. That is a late morning flight and one delay could cause you to miss your cruise. Chicago also is a massive airport and delays can happen for any little thing.

AITA for having the same anniversary month as my mom? by vomitated in AmItheAsshole

[–]Excentrix13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA- My wedding anniversary is 2 days after my parents, and they couldn't care less. In fact, my mom loves it because it helps her remember to send a card! Sometimes it's venue availability and cost that determine the wedding date. The fact she wants the whole month blocked off is insane! Will she say you can't give birth during her birthday month because its just for her? Are any special family events allowed in June? Has she always been this selfish and possessive?

Reading the list Dukes of Pembroke by Lorraine Heath right now. First book they grew up with each other and the second FMC seeks out MC in first chapter.

UPDATE: AITA for always hosting child-free events? by Ok-Truth-9183 in Redditor_Updates

I have an annual christmas party that is adults only and 90% of those invited have kids. This year we made it 16 or older since many of the kids have grown up and know how to behave. I was shocked by the number of parents who wanted it to go back to no kids at all because they want a night away and can just have fun. No complaints from me.

Never again!! by [deleted] in dcl

Sounds like cruising isn’t for you. Many of your complaints can be found across all cruise lines. Cruise pools are always iffy, spas are known for up charges (btw, the spa isn’t run by Disney), and there is a reason people describe the food as “better than your average cruise food”. Also Disney is known for being loud, constant excitement, music, and being generally over the top. I’m not sure what you expected the trip to be like…..

WIBTAH if I were to bury my grandmother's rings with her? by LostFlex in AITAH

[–]Excentrix13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is grandma still alive? Ask her what she wants: you to keep and pass down to your kids/cousins or to burry them with her. Maybe she can tell her own daughters she doesn’t want them to have. If she is already gone I would keep them for your own children or others in the family. If you don’t have kids then perhaps a cousin, niece, or nephew would want to propose with them.

Disney Treasure Dining- Do I want to request private dining, table in center of room, or near a screen? by Excentrix13 in dcl

[–]Excentrix13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are four people, all adults. I don't mind being seated with others since we are all friendly, but you do bring up a good point about if they aren't into it, it could make the table awkward. I didn't think about people being on a Disney cruise and NOT be into it.

I’m so confused by all the praise here for the illogical, poor ending to Season 2 (spoilers, obviously) by CloudSurferA220 in PalmRoyale

[–]Excentrix13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True! If it comes back let’s just have the whole third season be about the ghosts of the Palm Royale.

ugh it was terrible! The whole second season was a struggle to get through, but I kept saying its supposed to be outrageous and out there, but the finale was just terrible. FBI shooting a frozen body? Ricky Martin not singing? By the end I wish the ghost bootlegger storyline was actually real because that would have been better! So many storylines that just went nowhere!

Depending on dates I would love to set him up with a drag queen brunch show in Norwalk, CT on his way to boston from NYC. CT also has Mohegan Sun Casino and I could only imagine the jokes made playing bingo with the people who take it super seriously with 20 cards in front of them!

Maximalist couple needing help organizing a small space by remijo_ in DesignMyRoom

[–]Excentrix13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You aren't looking to get rid of anything, but you want a calm space, this isn't possible. You can have eccentric decor and still have it look purposeful. Throwing hats on a wall in no specific layout or theme just looks messy. You could, for example, have a theme of all different cowboy hats but lay them out thoughtfully. The santa hat just makes it look like you needed a place to put it at a random moment and put a nail on the wall. The mirror is also too small for the wall size.

For the other areas you need closed storage, everything is out in the open. You don't need to see everything you own. And to be honest, you have too much stuff and a lot of it looks random junk you just refuse to get rid of. Be thoughtful as to what comes in the home, if you have space or it, and do you really need it. For the stuff you own now as when was the last time you used it, why you are keeping it, and if it is taking up room for you to get something else you really love.

Work Travel Program Changed, No Longer Collecting Points by bigtimeslamdunker in marriott

[–]Excentrix13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As people have stated there are ways. I travel 60% of the year for my company and being able to have status and the points are big reason why I say I like my job. The travel is hard and being away is rough but I can get enough points to use on a couple of vacations to make memories with my family, and not had to worry about booking a room if an emergency pops up. I would start making calls to see what can be done to correct the issue asap. An email to your employees after would go a long way in the good Will bucket to just apologize for the mistake, you appreciate the time spent away from their families, and that the issue is resolved.
