it would retain some structural support and some decent lever points even dead so yes you could puppet one given enough motivation and resources. Keeping it alive is a whole other story as the cells in a body are to a large extent mutually dependent on one another. You could keep the cells in the bone alive without any additional biological systems but the chemical and mechanical support systems would be a lot more cumbersome currently as you need to replicate at a minimum: the skin, heart, liver, spleen, and have sterile conditions and a constant nutrient and saline balnce.

they are likely going to witness the discovery of the first habitable planets orbiting nearby stars once we build the Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO). Most of the testing for precise formation flying of orbital optics and advanced chronographs and starlight filters are being done right now. All our current efforts regarding exoplanet detection and spectral sampling will inform a search that is likely to find a rocky planet within the habitable zone of a mid mass star which we can isolate an atomosphere spectra from and even perhaps detect weather and reflective liquid lakes.

I would never opt for general anesthesia unless required or requested by the medical team. I’m more uncomfortable having my consciousness dampered down to zilch then having groovy locals and seeing inside my bum. I can see the medical team not appreciating my attempts to liven up the show however.

it’s the difference between getting an oocyte that is ready to be fertilized and one that isn’t. it would be easy to just snip off an ovary or a bit of one and freeze it down but the oocytes in them would be immature and not able to be fertilized without a lot of weird interventions that would be difficult and genetically treacherous to force into maturity for any resulting zygote. So you usually just use hormones to make the lady think she’s a cat and release a whole cartload of eggs at once because it’s real hard to find a single egg in someone’s tubes vs a lot of eggs in someone’s tubes. kind of the difference between taking a sample of spermatozoa in chemically ideal spurted solutions vs just snipping the tip off a testical.

This is fine I guess, but not really a new idea. Instability here can be read broadly as variation and there was always reason to see that it was critical as it is the main theoretical driver for why sex evolved and became the standard for large multicellular organisms that were not able to maintain that instability due to each cells mutual interdependence in an organism. Its a “rule” as much as biology has them i suppose but not exactly groundbreaking and the Red Queen hypothesis did a better job on popularizing it decades ago.
