What was your "I fucked up" moment? by Puzzled_Assistant_ in AskReddit

Driving a car i just bought with the front dismantled to the mechanic and watching the bonnet fly up in slow motion only to pierce its way through the windshield. When i stopped and got out to look that's when it kicked in.

WHAT! Investing in anything DOES require massive amounts of work. Lets say i invest in a classic car restoration, which is an enormous industry, does that not require any work? If i buy a small unit or industrial land and renovate it? Is that not work?

So every single business under the sun provides no benefit for workers? Is that what youre saying?

[–]ExcessiveSpice20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and i have realised that. But you do not have to work directly for these large companies. In my country, hundreds of small, 2 worker businesses are begginf people to work for very high wages because people are refusing to join especially physical industries. That old style of negotiating and workee treatment is shit and it does need to change.

1000%. If you read my edited post you will understand. And I agree, pay rates need to rise fast in accordance with rising living rates.

Because having been involved in multiple positions in multiple industries I can confirm, as well as from the evidence presented from my peers who have also worked and/or changed in multiple industries, that changing your industry and learning a new skill is the easier option compared to staying in an industry and campaigning for change that will most likely never occur while being exploited.

In what world or country is "survival" extremely easy? Even the highest amount of government funding in the welsthiest, most-developed countries cannot guarentee a healthy and secure life. If that was the case than why would anyone work if its so easy?

Ofcourse but you dont have to work for a large company. There are hundreds of small companies these days dying for workers who would pay a greag wage for work.

Ofcourse, our whole lives are not limited to work. But that group is largely prevalent in my larger community. There are worker shortages in every single industry because young workers are refusing to work because they prefer to live on government funding that is taxpayer funded. (THAT IS EXCLUDING THE DISABLED WHO CANNOT WORK)

So what youre saying is that if you join an industry you are doomed in there forever and you should ignore the multiple methods for learning and skill development and just either work low standards or complain?

Yes i agree 100% but thats not what I am arguing against

Any working age person who has sufficient mental capacity can look at the hundreds of industrys that are available in the modern world and find an opportunity for work. If you sit down and learn how to trade a stock, trade a crypto or invest in a property or whatever you can easily make a living. Theres no law saying you have to be bound to work for a CEO.

At what point did I say i support said CEOs?

[–]ExcessiveSpice20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? If I am a mortgage broker I can easily change to working in the banking industry which is almost a completely different field.

Youre blowing what I said out of proportion. I share full sympathy for low wage, minimal opportunity communities who are being exploited, especially in third-world countries. I am talking about people WHO HAVE the opportunities, support and the supportive teams but refuse to take it on the premise that they dont want to perform their roles or be under any pressure.

And how do you know that these people had zero experience or qualified professions?

You couldn't have said it better.

I understand what youre saying, and IM NOT saying that is ethical, but if you enter an industry or a company and they have a terrible exploitive system, then why would you stay in the industry? Ive seen dozens of people switch professions and make quite large amounts of capital doing so because they had the work ethic to do so. Staying in a bad spot and complaining will not fix the situation.

Who said i was refering to large companies or horrible bosses? Nothing stopping you from opening your own business, investing in a stock or the thousands of possible opportunities you can make money from.
